Re: LDS Theology Question

In any event, the JW's have the name right. His name was NOT Jesus (the masculine ending "us" was added later by Romans) ... should be The Church of Yahweh ... for all the the to-do about the "correct" name of the church, they do not have the name right. Further proof that it is all about bra...

Re: “God given” talents?

I think there are quite a few genetically inherited talents - yes, can't think of anything I know that cannot be traced to nurture and nature. I will say our son has a talent for being a goofball that he did not learn from his responsible and serious sister... I guess there are a few things showing ...

Re: Monumental stupidity to faith promoting story

... It makes me think about a lot of the faith promoting stories you hear. Many of them, once you take a step back and look at the situation, it is either someone makes a mistake, or they do something stupid and manage to get out of it. Like the story about the apostle who took a wrong turn and dec...

Re: Maybe it’d be nice if everyone posted a very short intro who they are

Appreciate hearing everyone's stories. I did not grow up in the church, was raised in a JW offshoot group :D converted to Mormonism in college after what I thought was a spiritual experience - wanting to do the adult thing, go to church, get married, etc. and Mormonism has some strange parallels to ...

Re: Still no thread on President Oak’s anti-LGBT bigotry?

Listening to it now - Comments about how people only post their "high's" on social media - I disagree with this, or perhaps I have a more honest friend group who are able to post a combination of complaints and frustrations with good moments? Is this a Mormon thing - for people to only post the sunn...

Re: This summer is going to a rough one

Obviously I've been dealing with being in a mixed faith marriage for a long time and that's become way more complicated since I went down the rabbit hole a year ago. We haven't talked about church at all in a few months, which is good although we have a lot of awkwardness since she focuses so much ...

Re: Moving on Up and Out!

She is supporting me on my journey while she remains a believer. I have a hard time understanding, at least for us personally, how her joining me on the journey is a better alternative. I know many of you have been in a mixed faith marriage far longer than I have, is there something I'm missing? In...

Scientists discover how to reverse aging as well as how to back up memories and human minds electronically. Humans become immortal, many leaving earth to colonize other planets. Only a few historical religious buildings remain as museums as a reminder of what life was like when people feared death.

Re: Lively discussion for NBI: Fighting for Jesus; where do we cross the line?

Angel, I too am a fan of the NT Jesus, the one in the four gospels. However, this is something I have sincerely struggled with - NT Jesus did not refute or disavow OT Jehovah. Saying “The Law of Moses is fulfilled in me” is not the same as saying “yeah all that stuff in the OT was really messed up,...

Ah, excellent, a lively discussion! I’ve been waiting for one of these. And for the sake of discussion, I’m going to take an unexpected position and say Red Ryder has a point, we would expect any organization to fight tooth and nail to protect its reputation. Particularly one that believes it is fi...

Re: Lively discussion for NBI: Fighting for Jesus; where do we cross the line?

No company, organization, political party, school etc. is perfect. Most people do not expect perfection from anything in this world, but do appreciate honesty, transparency, the willingness to face problem areas and make improvements where need be. The car I am currently driving has had a few recal...

Re: Skipped 2nd Hour with DS

My kids go to church while knowing their mother does not buy into quite a lot of it. My oldest just graduated from her seminary (more devout than the children of a few of the leaders in our church  ), our youngest is rather rebellious - told our bishop in an interview she did NOT think JS was a...
