Re: Did Netasha Helfer-Parker get Exed?

For anyone from Kansas, or just spread the word... I spent a weekend with her at a Mormon Stories retreat (with TBM husband at the time). My then-TBM husband could not handle anyone at MS except Natasha, that was the one person there he was impressed with and therefore a lifesaver for me. Hubbie is ...

Re: Mormonism my way ?

Too difficult now to get excommunicated for apostasy. They expect you to resign if you are merely unbelieving. It takes work and leading others out of the fold as a podcaster, stop youth interviews, or ordain women organizer to get exed. ... Natasha Helfer is getting ex's soon - has been called to ...

Re: Mormonism my way ?

While it is tempting to inflict uncomforted and pain on others as they have done unto us, it is best to take the high road. I was the first out in my family, did not attend church with them, used love and logic (did have those hard conversations with family - the people I cared about). Best wishes t...

Re: Just when I think I've heard it all !!!

always loved this story An old man and his dog were walking down a dirt road for quite sometime when they finally came to a beautiful marble wall with a golden gate. The person standing guard was dressed in a white robe and said: "Welcome to Heaven". It was then the old man realized he and his dog w...

Re: A So-Called Beloved Daughter

Thank you all for your kind words and support. I think I have reached a point where I’ll participate in church when I feel comfortable to do so and will no longer pretend to be someone I am not. I will focus more on Christ (I feel studying the New Testament brings me closest to him). If asked to te...

Re: The 2020 numbers

Things are changing. Church memberships are falling, but non-affiliated spirituality might be rising? What do you think? Is moral purpose and community now better supported through reformation movements - are civil rights protests and volunteer groups establishing themselves as the new spiritual co...

Re: A So-Called Beloved Daughter

Big hugs Hallew!! I used to play so many mind games trying to justify the role of women for my daughters , for myself. It took a bishopric member molesting one of my kids (he is now in jail) and then observing how everyone else reacted to the situation to wake me out of the trance I was in. The prie...

Re: The 2020 numbers

Something I recently posted on fb: Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a good weekend. It has been interesting to see how COVID has changed the holidays, and finding what will be the "new norm" as vaccines role out. Some interesting data coming in, and comparisons with past pandemics. It was said that t...

Re: Forced Turning Point

Whenever possible, I will request that parents be in the room to share the interview process with their children - the same goes for my counselors. No one-on-one interviews. Good. Though you may need to make room for times that a kid needs to discuss something they aren't comfortable saying in fron...

Re: Still waiting on God

Wow. I was the first one out in my fam, and I did not keep my mouth shut about it. I had the hard conversations, put my foot down about what reality was - granted our leaving involved abuse and health of the kids - but wow... Now we are all out, and marriage has never been better. Happy to have had ...

they provide no health benefit either. but.... but.... there was that one legend about the fire victim who had no scorch marks where their garments were! Re: Masks

Why is it always science vs. religion. I've always liked the doctrine "God helps those who help themselves" rather than the "God helps those who pay tithing, keep themselves indoctrinated, and pray". From the lack of observable interference I'd say the teaching technique down here is "sink or swim"....

She married William Hanson, a music professor at Brigham Young University, spent time in Utah, seems like she would have crossed the church at some point. Thanks!
