Re: Update after meeting with counselor

I was the 1st one out - now my DH is pretty much out too. One kid is out, the other 2 still have friends in church so like to attend the youth activities. My DH stopped wearing G's over vacation, and I stopped just over a year ago. Freedom! Still have some church friends I feel awkward around, but o...

Re: One hour church

My new year's resolution involves 45 minutes of church, 4 times a week. It involves putting on tennis shoes, popping in ear-buds, and strapping my two ministering pooches round my waist, then getting my heart up to around 130BPM ...

I go to church where Jesus went, outside in the hills.

Re: Extended Family Relationships

For as much TBM's preach missionary work, and love, and leaving the 99 to go after the one, it doesn't in reality happen. My ministering teacher has not come by in over a year, people talk to my kids and husband but avoid me, and it is a constant battle reminding them "no one-on-one interviews", no ...

1 Nephi 2: Wow, patriarchal heirarchy... God talks to Lehi, and everyone else is supposed to follow Lehi without question. Lehi is not the one with the greatest faith here, it is Sarah and family who are just supposed to go along with the old guy.... Don't question, don't complain, everyone in Jerus...

Re: Whistle Blower Files IRS Complaint

They will probably start emphasizing more that the purpose of tithing is for the blessings it brings you. It's not about money at all, you know, it's about obedience and the joy of sacrifice. I used to imagine the good my donations were doing... why did I not notice the numbers before? Church avera...

Re: Houston we have a problem !

Hey, I'm in Houston! I'm heading the other way, just posted on fb I no longer identify myself as Mormon - that faith should be in God, not faith on a church, best to skip any middle-men. It's all between you and God - you answer the tr questions, not the interviewer. You call yourself worthy or not....

Re: Are You Spiritual

When I think about having left, I feel down and gloomy - like after someone dies, and you miss that person, or if you have experienced adultery and there is just a sickening feeling when you think of the person. That said, I have felt the spirit after my faith crisis. Funny thing, when I should not ...

Tis the season, I'm going to read scriptures, nt, bom, and Taoteching .. 1 nephi 1:20 And when the Jews heard these things they were angry with him; yea, even as with the prophets of old, whom they had cast out, and stoned, and slain; and they also sought his life, that they might take it away. But ...

Re: Observation #3: The Church is Alive and Well

Only one of my kids went to church last Sunday. I know several families in our area who are all out. We're having an apostate ornament and cookie exchange this coming Sunday :D . Sometimes I wonder if I had someone to chill with on a regular basis IRL, if it would be easier to let go of some of the...

Re: Observation #4: Under the Microscope

Everything an exmormon does is hyper-scrutinized. so... the YW were at the house with a few other ppl from school, and one of the never-mo kids brought tea (not to be rude or rebellious, they did not know, and brought it to be nice - it was really nice tea)... and guess who got pulled aside a...

My prayers are now gender-neutral / non-denominational but I pray, I even pray privately when I lose my keys or something, and it still works, I will find my keys lol. "Loving God and Angel's, please watch over all the struggling ex-mo's this holiday season. Bring them renewed faith in humanity, an...

Use the comparisons and competitions to better yourself, play the game, donate to charities, volunteer at the homeless shelter, be someone's big brother - go do all the things to show your worth, and then laugh off the motivation behind everyone becoming a better person. ;) Here is a place where I ...

14 year old Joseph claims to see God. Told to not going any church. Translates gold plates into BOM. Builds a new church based on book. Takes multiple wives in plural marriage. Destroys printing press exposing plural marriage. Gets killed. Church moves west and survives. Plural marriage continues u...

Here is something I learned from Gilbert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kie6ArWL8Ug I was able to meet Gilbert, and asked him how he is able to get anything done in Burundi in the face of so much corruption and conflict there. He told me a secret - the secret to getting his wells dug is setting it...

Re: Loyal Christian's hanging onto mormonism

If there is such a thing as a loving God, seems like they would be no respecter of persons or organizations or books, giving the same resources to everyone through all time (ie - everyone has a conscience, that is all you need?). As nice as it is to belong to a group, I just cannot see any one group...

Re: Bob McCue: The Church is like a Narcotic

In a conversation with Corsair last night he mentioned Bob McCue, a name I hadn’t thought about for awhile now. For those that don't know, Bob McCue’s experience leaving the church played out back around the same time my faith crisis started. Bob’s writings were excellent and helped me to see the p...
