Re: What’s the future of anti-Mormonism look like?

I'm late to the thread, but good thread! BLM has re-opened discussions on racism within the church, at least within my newsfeed. Mama-Dragons/LGBTQ, feminists - more independent working single moms realizing priesthood isn't a protection, isn't a support. I think moving fwd, people crave healthy com...

Re: If I could ask them one question . . . Come Follow Me, Lesson 20

I was listening to an interesting podcast the other day on Taoism - a little unrelated, but the host values modern day translations and interpretations of the book more than the original, and actually discouraged digging backwards into trying to find the original text which I found fascinating. Thei...

Re: Looks like I'll be doing my "Home Study" after all...

Really - the only possible things to teach kids are the things that come from the Church, and in all the world there are no viable alternatives? If we don't teach them from Church manuals, what else could we possibly use? Nothing? Sometimes the world of Mormonism is a small, shallow world, that has...

To help kids, find some books from the library about Lincoln, Jefferson, Edison, Elanor Roosevelt, the Wright Brothers, etc.
That was my first thought - study examples of real people who made positive contributions.

Oaks strikes again !!!!! For him to suggest that I brought on myself my physically abusive, emotionally abusive , sexual abuser alcoholic parents on myself because I was not as valiant in the pre existence as I should have been is total Bullshit !!!!!!! This hurt very bad as I'm sure he likes it to...

Any prophetic predictions? False hopes, broken promises?

Re: Still in anger stage

Those who are not familiar with the Perry stages of intellectual and ethical development (and other similar models) - might as well start with wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_G._Perry Most people do not reach the higher stages... from relying on authority figures, to becoming your own au...

Re: Still in anger stage

I’m still in the anger stage from my faith crisis. I just want to admit it. I’m stuck in this phase because most of my family, both sides, are TBM and I see no light at the end of the tunnel. I want to get to the apathy stage where I just don’t give a hoot. Seems hard to move on without a lot of fa...

Then to make it worse my parents (in their 70’s) are still stuck in a third world country waiting for the church to fly them home once the political environment allows them to.
Who knows, they might be safer where they are? It's God's over-ruling however it turns out I'm sure ;)

Re: How are you holding up?

Holding up? What would be a good word for it? Maybe: Numb? It's like a train-wreck. Like all train-wrecks, it's impossible for me to look away. And it's a train-wreck that involves the entire planet. It's also hard to not spend all my time ponderizing the irony of the entire situation. And the best...

Re: How are you holding up?

I am very much enjoying working from home, getting extra family time in, getting caught up on a lot of things. I know there are quite a few people who do not have homes - or at least safe homes, have heard child abuse is on the rise, and divorce is up which is really sad... Hoping by the end of this...

Re: A fellow Mormon asks us to give our lives for the economy

I wish everyone would stop thinking in such black and white terms. This is not a "choose option A, or choose option b" type of thing - there are an infinite number of choices and ways to handle this responsibly. My DH and I are both working from home, and loving it. Most people can work from home, o...

Re: LDS Church temporarily suspends all meetings....

This "at least once a month" edict seems pretty new and arbitrary: Dear Brother: The Stake Presidency has given authorization to the bishop to allow worthy priesthood holders to temporarily administer the sacrament in their homes along the following guidelines: 1.This authorization will be immediat...

Re: LDS Church temporarily suspends all meetings....

How is everyone going to handle "the priesthood" wanting to come over and administer the sacrament? With some of the cray-cray plans I've read from local leaders, the only way to keep them away is to tell them we've got the virus and have coughed on all the exterior doorknobs. We did recently trave...

Re: LDS Church temporarily suspends all meetings....

How is everyone going to handle "the priesthood" wanting to come over and administer the sacrament? Our stake just authorized individual families to sanctify their own bread and water. That says a lot about the way the church works, doesn't it? You can't say a prayer over a piece of bread in your o...

Re: Praying together after leaving the church :)

Here is another speculation and justification if one is to believe in God - IF there is a loving God, why all the different groups? Why the "tower of babble", why the divisions? ... I guess one could ask why capitalism sort of works... competition is a good motivator... if you want selfish lazy peo...
