Re: Baptism Discussion With My Son

My son is getting baptised on Sunday. All his choice, hes excited and looks gorgeous in his suit. We havent really said or talked about the whys and wherefores of it. Ive kept it pretty simple and said hell be an official.member of the church and is following Jesus' example. That's how I see it. Thy...

Temple changes

I've just seen on another forum that there's been some changes made to the endowment session, particularly for women. No one will say what they are, of course 'out of respect to their sacred nature'. It just strikes home to me again how this us all just down to Nelson re configuring the church to hi...

Re: Do I tell DH I've tried alcohol?

I told him...I think he was disappointed but not surprised. His face said it all really. I said we weren't missing much....and left it at that. I think starting small is the key. I bought a bottle of red wine for a recipe a few months ago which he wasnt keen on. But these things will lay the foundat...

Re: Do I tell DH I've tried alcohol?

Some excellent points to ponder here thank you. I agree sherry and wine are not the best to start with which is why I haven't ruled it out altogether. I will definitely try a sweeter wine next time. I think mentioning I tried a sip on a whim to him is probably the best starting point. I am dreading ...

Do I tell DH I've tried alcohol?

DH knows about my un believing status. However some things are still taboo. I've been drinking coffee for a while now but still haven't told him. As it's been Christmas I decided to try some alcohol....albeit ot the best to start with but it's what was here and on a whim. I tried a sip of sherry as ...

Well, drum roll.... It was second counsellor in the bishopric. Not the bishop. Phew. Why he couldn't have just told me that. Sigh. More Mormon weirdness.

Yes I was afraid of that answer. I think I will pray tonight that he isn't going to be the bishop!! Then if he hasn't I can claim my prayers have been answered 😁

Why are callings kept 'secret' until announced?

My Dad is an uber TBM and is well up there in the stake as far as callings are concerned. He's held loads of 'high profile' callings. He told me the other day that him and his wife have a meeting with the stake President. So I messaged him today asking what his new calling was. Only because its impo...

Re: Endure to the End

Wow. I couldn't do all that. I never even did all that when I was a TBM 😂 Perhaps its slightly different for me as DH is on board with my dissafection. But whereas I'm ready to leave he wants to cling on, even though he hates going to church more than I do! The only church related thing I do is atte...

Re: Back to school blessings...

My MIL believes in blessings like its some magical power. My niece was in hospital with a bleeding spot on her face, it wouldn't stop. I asked her how the doctors stopped it in the end and she replied 'a blessing'. It was all I could do not to drop my head into my hands. (What really happened was th...

Re: It’s ok if they don’t understand. I have nothing to prove to them.

Hello! This is my rant/confession to anyone who needs to hear this. It’s ok if they don’t understand. I have nothing to prove to them. It’s not ok for me to give my own power away. I’m done going to church and worshiping God in a way that doesn’t resonate with me. I’m done with the lies that say yo...

Re: I think I've reached the next stage in my journey

Have you not tried it yet? We were at an English heritage place today (castle) and they always have wine to taste in tiny sacrament style cups. It was an ideal opportunity to taste a little bit of something without buying a whole bottle in case I didn't like it. But kids and dh were there so I lost ...

I think I've reached the next stage in my journey

Physically we don't go to church that much anyway. DH hates our ward and has never settled there since moving a year ago. Not helped by the fact no one talks to him and I mean no one. I'd say we go once every 3 weeks on average. I'm happy with my less active status. But I've decided I'm now 'non pra...

Re: DS is getting hitched

I haven't been to a sealing since my own 13 years ago. Thankfully we have a normal church wedding beforehand so I didn't feel cheated. I would have been utterly devastated if that was just my wedding. I don't remember much about it apart from feeling stupid in all the robes whilst the wedding guests...

Re: This Really Sucks!

It does suck and it really is COMPLETELY unnecessary. As it looks like a lot of you come from Utah I can tell you that the church is different in the U.K. Which proves a lot of church 'policy' and 'doctrine' is actually cultural crap that varies from country to country. Your situation would never ha...

Re: Impractical, uncomfortable, and unsightly

I still maintain that garments are the single dumbest idea Smith ever had. I can't wrap my mind around how anyone takes them seriously, including myself a few years ago. Especially given the origins started with a frontier sex cult! I'm considering starting a campaign similar to Ordain Women or Sam...
