Re: Ward Council is Closed (Minded)

What a roller coaster of emotions from this thread. Many things I wanted to respond to, but without going back, I can't remember which lines I wanted to speak to. The first part of reading had me laughing pretty hard in an early morning visit to my local Starbucks. I kept reading WC as Water Closet,...

Re: Nihilism

Wow, this thread hits me hard. Breaking away, guilt-free, from mormonism was very freeing. I never appreciated mortal life more than knowing this is IT! Make the most of it. Little things made me happier and appreciative. Every functional day feels like a gift. While I still think this way, I feel c...

Re: Unintended consequences of civil marriage announcement

1. Virtue Signaling/Class Creation -- basically creating that dynamic of more/less righteous if you have a civil ceremony as opposed to those who stick to what God really wants and has a temple ceremony anyway. I hadn't considered this. It will be like those of us who came from pioneer stock are so...

So this is probably no problem for a single woman or woman married to a nonmo. Girl callings are so not important in the church.

Re: The most stupid idea ever !!!!

I'd be okay with home church, as long as the sacramental "water" was a jumbo margarita. Probably without the salt; you don't want to overdo.

Re: I have anger issues and need professional help!

Recently my wife asked me why I still wear garments. I told her it’s just underwear. She replied “no it isn’t”. Or #4. Maybe she believes it isn't "just underwear," not for religious reasons, but for lousy, uncomfortable reasons. I would imagine for men it's not so different than some normal availa...

Re: It’s my voice, isn’t it?

Hahahaha. I'm not mad or offended. It's so stupid laughable. I'm sorry so many feel they are not good enough (been there...) to balance family with church calling, while being exhausted from yet another pregnancy. All you have to do is pray and prioritize, but don't give up any of your duties. What ...

Don’t forget those imaginary angels that threaten your life if you don’t marry young girls and other married women.

Re: What was your first NOM thought?

Hmmm, first NOM thought. I remember thinking that the CK sounded like an awful place. I would much rather hang out with less than perfect sinners in a lower kingdom. 24/7 church didn't cut it with me. Spitting out a bunch of ungrateful offspring didn't not sound like peace and happiness. In order to...

Re: Damnation to my Soul

Wait so your saying your old and wise enough to retire but you can't exit a church? What kind of twilight zone so we live in here? Please tell me you can pick your own underwear? No? WTF kind is religion is this? Jebus may weep. I'll be weeping for joy. I do choose my own undies. They aren't pretty...

Re: Damnation to my Soul

Sitting in church, this morning, I took the sacrament for the first time since 2011  . I took the smallest piece I could. Maybe it will be less damning. I’ll probably stop for a G&T on the way home. That should cleans the evil. Haha. I thought I would feel guilty, but this whole church gam...

Re: Garment-Free Day

Hahaha. Who in a normal life worries about the underwear they have on? Such a bizarre religion. I remember those days. Oh yeah...I still hide my undies inside a hat (just incase an unsuspecting family member is looking through my stuff). Granny-panties in a hat. Hmmm, possibly a sort of seer stone? ...

I have no statistics to back this up, but I suspect that you are more likely to die from natural causes in church (boredom if it is a Mormon church) than a shooting.
I die a little each Sunday I attend.

I UNDERSTAND NOW! "Bored to tears..." That's why So. Many. Tears. during F&T meeting.

Re: Who should be able to enter the temple?

If I'd seen what the temple was like, before getting the VIP card to enter, I would have never bothered. As a youth, the temple was mysterious and spiritual. Going, finally, was underwhelming. Until I learned the truth and disaffected, I thought it was a problem with ME. I wasn't good enough to get ...

Re: "Why do you always leave after Sacrament Meeting?"

After I reached the point that I could no longer force myself sit through all of the meetings I used to get the occasional "we sure miss you, brother," from members of the quorum. Then one Sunday one of the High Priest group counselors (or whatever they were called) stopped me in the hall on my way...

Re: Living the Middleway again.

I shudder to think of getting a calling and other responsibilities. Is that part going to be okay for you? Your middleway may become 3/4 way. While living with my dad, I had my records sent to my home in another state. The church is like that. You might try to go half-way, but it's going to do ever...

The comprimise was I become member again and she leaves me alone about my beliefs !!!!!!! It works for us !!! This is a good compromise. Is your part going to still be an okay compromise once your PH "blessings" are restored? I shudder to think of getting a calling and other responsibilities. Is th...

Re: 90# Pork Butt

Wow. A rodeo. I would even attend something like that. The ward events around here are so boring and the food is always so bad. It must be nice to help this guy out without the added pressure of your own calling. Nothing like the pressure/guilt that comes with so many added responsibilities to your ...

Re: To clean or not to clean?

Church buildings do not feel that clean. They are vacuumed, but don't really get CLEAN. Maybe it's being an adult vs a kid, but they feel kind of grungy compared to the longtime past. It reminds me of a McDonald's Playland. Cleaned, but not clean. Gives me the willies. Are church buildings ever give...
