Re: Strange things in the Bible

Satan and three-year-olds do no go together. Much better to mention the talking donkey in the Bible. Show a picture of a donkey and do some donkey noises. The three-year-old will love it. A Talking Donkey?!?!?! https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6c/Donkey_%28Shrek%29.png Actually: I approv...

And then she said that there is evil in the world too, and so lots of suffering comes from that. And I asked, is the world really filled with evil? And she said yes. The further I get from belief the more harmful these ideas seem to me. Here's the thing that gets my Fluff in a wad when it comes to ...

Re: Offloading

I know this isn’t the answer to your question, but I’ll put this here in case it can help someone else with this or something similar. Sometimes sunk costs are sunk costs, and the thing that benefits us most is to get rid of it and move on. Yeah, I was gonna mention that there's definitely a lot of...

Re: Key Indicators?

Sadly, I no longer attend, so I am unaware of any KPI's related to the activities of the local multi-billion dollar real-estate corporation masquerading as an over-the-top fundamentalist religious community. Wait... "Sadly" is definitely not a good word to describe the emotion I feel about not atten...

How to get rid of 2 tons of wheat? In a way that benefits me? My chickens eat a little.... Any other "micro" farms, or similar near you that could take some? Other folks with "farm" animals that could consume said grain? We have a "rescue" farm near us that takes donations similar to this. (I'm not...

Sounds like a playground argument to me: "My Bonaparte can beat up your Bonaparte!"

Re: Dreams equal visions?

I think the fine line between dreams and visions is a concern, but i'm not sure how to address it. Good question. Anyone who dreams during sleep could probably admit that dreams are basically hallucinations . So why do hallucinations (dreams) about "religious" subjects become "visions" or "revelati...

You mean like Jupiter talisman coloring pages and making paper dolls of Joseph Smith's wives? Paper Dolls!?!?!? Absolutely brilliant! Along with finding their own seer-stones on church-grounds, making paper "translation" hats, and practicing "translating", you could get 6-9 months of lessons taken ...

What are you reading? The Skeptics' Guide To The Universe Ha! I'm actually still working on The Skeptics' Guide. And truthfully, I've read, and re-read many sections. This is a book that I think will be my new scripture. I'm hoping that this type of scripture can untangle the more than half a lifet...

Re: If Joseph Smith got it right, then who got it wrong?

The Freemasons got it all wrong: Their creepy ceremony was really invented so Joe and his buddies could "marry" teenagers and keep it secret via "Celestial Freemasonry" vows. Even today: The vast majority of believing MORmONs believe that pretending to be a Polygamist Freemason is the pinnacle of M...

No more string to tie the baker's hat to the toga?

How on earth are the dudes gonna keep their Holy Togas™ from slipping off of their shoulder during the stand-up-sit-down fake Mason dance???

Re: Why belief in Satan is comforting

Funny how incredibly powerful Satan is... And incredibly stupid at the same time. MORmONism, and in fact the entire premise of Christianity completely falls apart if Satan just stops "doing his job" of tempting people and promoting "evil." Yet Satan is too stupid to realize this, so he just keeps pl...

Re: The core of my mormon trauma

It feels as though true self esteem, and a sense of self-worth are punished at church, rather than seen as a good thing to aspire to. It’s as though instead of looking at me and thinking, “That’s so healthy that he can still feel comfortable in his own skin despite the social pressure.” They give m...

I always wondered how many blades of grass had grown in the same spot, and how many ants had ived on the same patch of ground, and what the Spirit World must be like with all of those generations piled on top of each other. Let alone all the people. Heh. If you really wanna ponder "turtles all the ...
