Re: Question on Mormon Cooking

As an FYI: Single-Serve "mini" bottles of wine are not available in Utah. 375ml/12oz cans are available. And 500ml "boxes". Utah liquor regulations are ridiculous. And selection is practically nonexistent. I don't know that the selection is as awful as made out to be, but the regulations are ...

Re: Question on Mormon Cooking

... We're such lightweights that we like to buy the little mini-bottles that come four to a pack. "Barefoot" is one particular brand that I think is widely available and pretty decent. There are others. They're pretty decent for drinking and certainly adequate for cooking. We'll sometimes use half ...

Boy howdy does this bring back some (bland) memories of Lima Beans for dinner, and Milk Toast Party fundraisers at the Ward House.

The good ol' days in the middle of the most MORmON Morridor state. :|

Re: The church and Equal Rights for women

I find it odd that few women called to the general boards of primary, Relief Society and Young Women are the stay-at-home moms that the church has proclaimed women should be. They do not follow the prescribed path. The Second Wives Club does not seem to fit the model either. That is an interesting ...

Is there a competent candidate that is like, 65 or something?
I nominate Hagoth and Mayan_Elephant for Prez/Vice-Prez.

You two can decide who wears which hat - or maybe just trade weekly or monthly.

Re: The church and Equal Rights for women

I was barely a teen in 77, but I'll never forget the name Sonia Johnson and how much the church demonized her for standing up for ERA. She and some others actually stood up and verbally opposed the church leadership in a general conference session and it shocked a lot of people. https://en.wikipedi...

Picking the best person for the job rather than just the most senior seems a unique idea.
SHOCKING!

With my background in Mainstream/Utah MORmONism, pretty much all of the way CoC runs things is a massive breath of fresh air.

Re: How do you define Mormonism?

I have enjoyed other’s definitions, but don’t have any humor to add along that line. So, I’ll just be boring and pretend we are serious about answering the question. Lots of things. If I were writing a dictionary, it would be really hard to define because the main people who are Mormon, think the w...

As a female, I obviously have zero say in what Mormonism is, so I cannot participate on this thread. I would say that I resent my lack of voice, but since I don’t have a voice y’all can’t hear me.
You have a voice here, (female) Froggy.

Please, please, please? Define what Mormonism is to Alas.

Re: How do you define Mormonism?

This is an interesting thought experiment that I've never thought of. :P Though I don't want to put too much thought into it, the MORmON part of my brain won't let me not think about it (as you can tell.) Sadly, my first reaction as to how I would define Mormonism would be offensive to some folks he...

Re: Pope, Gay blessing, Conversion opportunity

I dont think calling all saints hateful is kind nor accurate. Hateful or not. Kind or not. Like angel said: Those who "stay" are in some way complicit in supporting a hateful organization. Not only bigoted and hateful, they spend millions protecting predators. And... I don't see anywhere in this po...
