Re: What are you drinking right now?

Thanks to an exmo friend of ours, we have 25 50ml bottles of liquor to try, one each day in the form of an Advent calendar. Best present ever for noobs learning about the various types of drinks out there. So, far I liked the Jagermeister, but hated the cherry brandy (it burned all the way down the ...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

A Paloma, Squirt mixed with Tequila. Not bad.

Edit: tried another with cranberry vodka instead and it was better. That cranberry vodka works with everything I tell you.

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Moscow mules with cranberry Vodka (Smirnoff), Fever Tree ginger beer, and fresh lime juice. Amazing!

I only have one small nitpik, and that is how Bill pronounces Brigham Young as Bring'em Young and have to wonder if it is merely an Ohio accent thing or an intentional and hilarious dig at the man. [emoji16]

I feel as though I've been summoned

Re: My first public drink

I didn't like non-sweet wines much until I had a (red) Cabernet Sauvignon a few times. Now it's about the only wine I'll drink and it just makes me feel good, unlike a lot of other drinks.

Re: Bill Reel's Mythical Jesus Podcast

I just started this a few days ago and intend to keep listening. Bill has a knack for dispensing information without sounding like he's reading a report.

I was also confused by the name. I intentionally avoided it at first because I thought it would focus on deconstructing the story of Jesus.

Re: Zaphod's Church Shopping Story

Nice, what a great opportunity to learn. By the way, I have yet to go to any social setting with Episcopalians outside of coffee hour where there wasn't significant amounts of wine. It's quite funny. In fact, I got to try some homemade plum wine at the last one and liked it so much I started a batch...

Re: Zaphod's Church Shopping Story

Finally, after the meeting, DS wandered over to look at the organ console. He plays piano and is quite good despite being very young still. The organist was more than willing to invite him up and show him around and let him try it out. The organ in this church is a full pipe organ that also has chi...

Re: Zaphod's Church Shopping Story

I did the church shopping thing about 4-5 years ago. My wife was still TBM at the time. I was very interested in learning about the various denominations and I wasn't ready to let go of the church experience completely. I went to two Unitarian churches but decided I wanted to hang onto the more trad...

12oz ciderboys orange with a shot of white rum. One of the quickest and easiest ways to a buzz for me.

A Pleasant Surprise

...to see the forums back up after being down for so long. I'm confident few remember me as I rarely posted but lurked often. I've been lurking on and off for probably 8 years or so. I've hung out at Reddit for the last while but, somehow, it doesn't quite feel like family the way this place does. T...
