Church/BYU-Idaho stops taking student Medicaid, repeals decision after fallout

You can't make this stuff up... https://www.sltrib.com/news/education/2019/11/22/byu-idaho-no-longer/ In a nutshell, the church (BYU-Idaho) decided to stop allowing students to enroll in classes if Medicaid was their only form of health insurance. This was in response to a state expansion in Medicai...

Ballard: 'BSA left the church, we didn't leave them'

https://www.wsoctv.com/news/national-news/ap-top-news/mormon-leader-we-didnt-leave-boy-scouts-they-left-us/1009037332  The church got out of the BSA for financial and legal reasons, who is he kidding??? And they didn't leave a 'church'... a real estate corporation left the BSA due to primarily...

How was Joseph Smith dictating the B of M out of his hat?

Does anyone know of any information out there from LDS or non-LDS historians who know how Smith was really dictating the Book of Mormon out of his hat? Obviously, he wasn't seeing special characters appearing on his magic rock and so this begs the question... was he reading from something in print t...

Re: Another big Joseph Smith blow out?

How anyone who is aware of the truth about who Joseph Smith really was can sing 'Praise to the Man' without vomiting is a mystery to me??? Even more troubling is how the church (FP & Q of the 12) can honestly and seriously be preparing a huge Joseph Smith bash event for spring conference to commemor...

Re: Tithing settlement

Well, I eventually agreed to meet with our Bishop today about it and it was a total non-event... he simply asked if we were full tithe-payers, I said yep and that was that. Meeting was less than 5 minutes. But that is all a Bishop is supposed to do as there should be no questioning, shaming, pressur...

Re: Tithing settlement

Hermy nailed it. Extortion is one word that he might have skillfully woven into the fabric of what he said. Yeah, it is unconscionable to me how the church not only uses a big percentage of its donations for investing into interest bearing accounts for several years for massive development projects...

Re: Tithing settlement

I know you've already stated that you are going to attend #8, but I'm still going to vote that you do this: Send an email stating full. How the bishop handles that could give you an inkling as to how he's going to handle things. In the case of him questioning 7 months missing, "my" reply would be: ...

Re: Tithing settlement

You’re over thinking this. You don’t owe the bishop anything. Until you’re ready to leave just keep your mouth shut. Nowhere does it say you have to pay the full year’s tithes by tithing settlement. Nowhere does it say you have to pay monthly. Just pay your tithes according to the dictates of your ...

Re: Tithing settlement

Thanks for the replies everyone. It was a text message I got from the Exec. Sec'y and I already said next Sunday would work. What I'm trying to avoid is the Bishop finding out that I'm having major issues with the church right now and not paying our 10% anymore because it resembles a very wealthy Ba...

Tithing settlement

I've got a little conundrum and was hoping for some advice. Back in March I began donating 10% of our discretionary income to local homeless shelters and food banks instead of to the church since I had become quite disenchanted with how it operates financially in terms of real estate, land and offic...

Re: Lila Tueller Interview

This sounds eerily similar to what they did back in 1984 when Ron Poelman gave an address which basically shot down any notion that the brethren are infallible where the hierarchy of the church had him re-do his address from the pulpit with key elements taken out so that his remarks were more in lin...

Re: Vaporware Temples

Can someone point me to where it was revealed that LDS inc has 32b in stock market? I knew about billions in assets being speculated, but not that it seems to be confirmed. I want to share with my husband. We have been watching the Bill Gates documentaries (3 pt) on Netflix and I want him to see wh...

In this country all you have to do is stuck "church" in your name. It worked for Scientology.

Re: Vaporware Temples

Here's my question... each temple costs an average of about $150 million... 150 times 37 = $5.6 billion... why would this real estate corporation masquerading as a religion drop almost $6 billion for 37 temples so members of a trademark can go and practice Freemasonry? Could they be willing to coug...

Re: Vaporware Temples

Especially with the temples in the Mormon heavy area, I wonder how much of the decision to put them in is less about meeting member needs, but more about either a cushy construction gig for a certain company with backhanded ties to LDSInc. or as 'gift' to certain members in the area who then get in...

Re: Vaporware Temples

Didn't see this on here. Saturday night, during the women's session, they announced a new temple to be built in Orem Utah. This was very braking news. So new that the City of Orem put out a statement that they had no idea that one was in the works and not been contacted about it yet, so they had no...

Re: General Konference Predictions

I am hoping they will announce they are refunding all the tithing I paid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk This. The church' hierarchy know its foundational claims are fictitious and were started by a con man, yet, continue to not only expect 10% of each members' income in tithing, they knowingly...
