Spiritual abuse
I was reading info on forms of abuse as I am in the healthcare field. Anyway they referenced the national domestic violence hotline. Here is a link: https://www.thehotline.org/resources/types-of-abuse/ Anyhow, you will see there that there is one in there titled spiritual abuse. Specifically where ...

Re: I heard Moksha passed away recently…
Life can be tenuous sometimes and I guess we all have our end eventually. I had a mild heart attack a couple of months ago and it made me realize how fragile life can be. Anyway, RIP Penquin, you will be missed!

Re: The simplest questions
Why was there racism in the Book of Mormon, Book of Abraham etc?
Why was BY so racist?
Why does the church now disavow these racist teachings?
Why did the church finally allow blacks to have the priesthood in 1978?

Re: The simplest questions
Why did JS marry so many wives who were already married? Why did Oliver Cowdery get excommunicated because he believed JS affair with Fanny Alger was adultery? Why did BY marry Zina Huntington after JS died even though her husband was on a mission? Why did JS coerce young girls to marry him? Why did ...

Re: The simplest questions
Why did the bom have so many anachronisms: animals, plants, Christianity, Isaiah, Biblical passages, writing, etc? Why did JS want to be a king and polygamist when in the bom it says that was abominable? Why does the LDS church want 10% of our gross income when the interest that it makes can pay for ...

Yeah, sometimes I feel guilty about declaring that I am a full tithe payor in front of my wife and kids and I really haven't been paying tithing. However, I was tbm for quite awhile and paid 10% of my gross income for quite awhile. Then after my faith crisis read that in the early days of the church ...

Alas, sorry about your daughter in law. I have a niece who is lesbian and she and her wife have a baby boy. It seems to me to be just as valid and genuine a family as anyone has. Sending good thoughts and prayers.

Re: NOMference Spring 2025 Sunday afternoon!!!!
I just read all of nomference and sounds like I didn't miss much right? I was lucky that we were on a road trip and only had to listen to part of 2 or so talks. I'm glad Mopag and team suffered through it to give us some good commentary.

I think my wife is a bit more open to criticism of the church now, even though she is still tbm. I just need to tune into nomference to see right

Re: Mormon Stories Justin Sweeney
Unbelief in Santa Claus as we transition to adulthood seems universal. Whereas unbelief in the church is not universal because there is still a strong cultural pressure to believe and our friendships and family relationships are tied to these beliefs it seems. That's why mixed faith marriages are ...

Re: Come Along With Me - Second Arrow
Linked, I am impressed that you at least are able to have your family stay home with you once a month. My wife is pretty strong-willed and so it's been hard to do much compromising with her. I am just hoping to at least let them them know of my beliefs before they decide to go on a mission and ...

Visions
I have an ancestor who was in the Kirtland temple with JS was there and said that he looked where JS was looking and saw 6 persons dressed in white wearing baker's hats and mocasins. He said that this vision strengthened his testimony of the temple later on. This is sort of an impressive vision to ...

Sounds good on the reunion. I'll just need a bit of advanced notice to plan. If we could do it at the Fashion Place Mall again that would be really convenient. Yes Hagoth that is kind of a crazy story. They would probably have to make really sturdy lids to open and close for air. I was also trying ...

It's encouraging to know that this is probably a trend and hopefully it will continue to be increasingly common so that those who are still in will have more empathy for us. And like he says, I suppose we need to have empathy for the believers.
