Re: Kwaku, FAIRMomon, and terminating Dehlin
I listened to the Mormonism Live with Kwaku. Don't know if anyone else picked up on this, but in his argument where he tries to explain rationalism and uses Jeffrey Epstein as his extreme example of how the most irrational possibility is what happened implying how shocking it was when we all found ...

Re: Feasting on the word of God
Sounds like we've got a lot in common!! I expect there is not a lot of people who can relate to our experience growing up without central heating and indoor luxuries like toilets and such. I do have a love of books as well and very much get where your comments were coming from.

Re: Feasting on the word of God
I truly admire your perspective. I also expect that perspective is the product of a long nurtured respect for the written word and that's very commendable. My paradigm is certainly less reverent. Raised somewhat off-grid in a small village, we had a burning barrel. A staple of that process was print ...

Feasting on the word of God
So this happened. Lying in bed around 10:00pm comes a knock on the door. Pretty weird as this is Mormonville and all good little Mormons are usually nestled all snug in their beds by this time. Me? I was taking a break from binging 'The Boys' on A. Prime. The knocking persisted so I got up and what ...

Thankyou græy! I was unaware of either of these sites. Just diving in and finding them excellent! Will spend some Covid time (months?) pouring through the content. Much appreciated.

Request: short list of JS paper juiciest bits?
Got a request from somebody who looks like they are about to bail looking for details from JS papers and wondering if anyones put together like a top 10 list of bat $#!+ crazy quotes and such from the papers?

Quick question: I'm looking for the reference for which apostle said something like, "Let us do the thinking for you." I'm sitting down with my TBM brother to do battle because my 85 year old Mom has asked some BIG questions that I've tried to carefully answer so as not to disturb the dust that ...

Re: Lending a hand
I dislike blanket statements such as "facts don't change minds". It smacks of the same all-or-nothing, black-and-white thinking that religion preaches, that many of us are trying to get away from. If the statement is actually true, most, if not all of us would still be drinking the LDS-inc. Kool ...

Lending a hand
It's been a while since I post on NOM, but have been busy writing a memoir on my atypical journey in the church and rather weird life. I came across an article that I found most interesting and useful and thought I'd post a link here. Like many of you, I wanted nothing more than to share my newfound ...

Re: The Lectures on Faith
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. There is a punctuation error in this scripture. There should be a comma after 'commandments' which would make the word 'hang' mean something else in a literal sense. I think lynching prophets is rather harsh, although commanding Samson ...

Re: Sunstone conference. Advise, please?
oops. posted in the wrong thread. Here's what i posted. If there is one way I could describe my Sunstone experience it is rather the same feeling I had when I was around eight and my grandparents got the first colour television set in our small village. I'm sure I imagined what it would be like, but ...

Re: Sunstone conference. Advise, please?
Any opinions on what/whose sessions are a must see? I recognize we all go for and connect with different presenters for different reasons. Just wondering some of your favourites if you care to share for those that attend? What day(s) will you be there? Somehow I missed this. We are scheduled for ...

I'll be at the first timers dinner. Look for a guy with a red square pin with my avatar name on it and a beautifully aging brunette wife by my side. Very much hope to see you there!MalcolmVillager wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2017 9:52 pm I wish I could make it to sunstone. I may make it to the first timers dinner Wednesday

I'm so sorry for your loss and have no understanding of the depth of what you must be feeling but also feel the depth of something that compels me to try and offer a few small words of comfort. Hope you find the warm security blanket of love of family and friends or whatever support is available to ...

Re: My TBM mom bumped her head on her shelf . . .
I don't know that I agree. If no one had ever said anything, I might still be beating myself up for not being a good enough Mormon. Some good advice I got (and I see here regularly) is to be authentic, genuine and kind but that it's ok to speak your truth. They speak theirs (sometimes ALL THE TIME ...

My TBM mom bumped her head on her shelf . . .
I’ve had opportunity to sit down with a couple of very enthusiastic Snufferites (not sure if this is a derogatory term – sorry if you are one and call yourselves something else). My DW (dear wife) and I came away with a few take-aways that I see as a personal benefit but I have to say no more so tha ...

Re: A VERY COOL CONNECTION HERE AT NOM!!!
I just wonder if anybody would actually do it, The reason we don't put our real pictures on here, is because we are afraid of being discovered right? what is the difference between that, and wearing something, that would basically do the same thing? I can only speak for myself on this but the ...

Maybe we should create something we wear or do so we can identify fellow NOMs. A lapel pin or special NOM pen or hat or something. How 'bout these???? https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/ec4cb556-e660-4a7c-a957-a14d6cab7576_1.c5b6318b8cfdae40fa6e62f90bb53868.jpeg?odnHeight=450&odnWidth=450&odnBg ...
