Re: Grrrrrrrrr

Is there any way you could hit "reply all" to the email you received, and just send back Alma 32:9-11, as the reason you are not going? "9 Behold thy brother hath said, What shall we do?—for we are cast out of our synagogues, that we cannot worship our God. 10 Behold I say unto you, do ye suppose th...

Re: Brian Hauglid on RFM!

Sorry to add, but I'd also REALLY like to hear Hauglid's thoughts on the hatchet job Gee did on his edition of the JS Papers project for the Interpreter Foundation: https://journal.interpreterfoundation.org/the-joseph-smith-papers-project-stumbles/ This was so just so petty and unprofessional of Gee...

Re: Brian Hauglid on RFM!

Brian Hauglid has graciously agreed to be interviewed by your humble podcaster this coming Monday! Brian has recently retired as professor of ancient scripture after a long and distinguished career at Brigham Young University. Are there any questions you would like me to put to him? All the Best! R...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

Um, can I make a statement here? As someone who went to pick up a kid in Utah in March to bring her home, I saw firsthand how little care Utahns were taking during the pandemic. Now, granted, it was at the beginning when nobody was sure how dangerous this would be, but I was pretty happy to bring my...

Re: Locking Arms for Racial Harmony

This is a great lesson for members of the church. I hope they will both read and ponderize it: https://medium.com/@Ch_JesusChrist/locking-arms-for-racial-harmony-in-america-2f62180abf37 It would be ten times more impactful as a social statement if it included an apology. What a wonderful opportunit...

Re: RMN deeply saddened

It has taken a tremendous amount of self-control to not respond to friends and family members who post this on social media. Yep. I have taken a break from social media the last two days because of this. When the church itself repents from its racism, which is to acknowledge it, say sorry and try t...

18 year old event. Brand new user with a single (albeit repeated) post who accidentally confirms facts that Tom shouldn't have known. I'm Not Buying It, even though that's not my handle. :) Are you suggesting, Yobispo, that our new user friend's initials are SCMC? The plot thickens. So, emrysfellow...

Re: They are back out in full force... sacrament on demand and lovebombing 2020 style.

Because I'm not an active member, my wife has gone without the sacrament the last... I'm not sure being an active member is a prerequisite. I figure it's my own damn priesthood to do with as I want until they magically take it away from me by signing a paper or scratching my name off a list or what...

Re: Hans and Brigitta Mattson, 2nd and 3rd Witnesses for the 2nd Anointing

Boy, I had forgotten about this thread. And a couple of weeks ago, I re-listened to the Mattsson's interview, just because I'm stuck at home and I love to hear their soothing accents. So I have a few questions, if I may, about the account you have written here. I have no reason to dispute your story...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

I actually thought I had posted about our family and the virus, but I never did! So, here's some urban eastern Canadian perspective. Along with her many anxieties stemming from being a Mormon woman, Sis. M is a germaphobe. The last couple of months have been highly stressful for her, and for our two...

Re: Opening Up Church Again

Today's announcement immediately left me feeling a bit anxious about returning to church. Luckily, I am somewhat severely immuno-compromised (never thought I'd say that), and DW feels equally frustrated with the lack of hard-line rules for keeping sacrament attendees safe. I will not be returning t...

Opening Up Church Again

So, they are planning to open up church again, albeit in a cautious and limited fashion. Great. https://www.thechurchnews.com/global/2020-05-19/covid-19-worship-services-meetings-activities-resume-first-presidency-184416 But I can understand why they are doing it, at least in the context of anecdota...

Re: Anti-Tithing Anecdote

That was an interesting read, hope it gets resolved with Sis. graey over time. That's a tough one, and we went through that too in our house, JUST FOR ME TO PAY ON NET, INSTEAD OF GROSS. I still can't believe how much of a fight it took to pay net on money I earned. I can't imagine the problems that...

Re: Finally finished Brodie's NMKMH. Shaken

I had read Brodie for a grad paper I did in the early 1990s, and was concerned enough to approach someone I really admired, who assured me that everything Brodie wrote was anti-Mormon lies, pointed me towards Nibley's hit piece, and for over a decade all was right with the world. Until I read Rough ...

I don't know how many SS classes I've been in where somebody has said that prophets, seers and revelators go right to God for answers, they don't rely on surveys or polls to figure it out. Guess they were wrong!

Wasn't a Temple in Russia announced last year?
Believe it or not, it was two years ago, in April 2018. Just looked it up. Haven't even started groundbreaking yet. If I remember correctly, they don't even have a city yet for it. Don't think that will get built.
