Re: New to the website

Welcome. You will fit in well with our NOM family. Yes, we can relate. We have all been in or are currently in your same situation. We have walked in your shoes, so lay back, put your feet up, and feel welcome in our community...

I’m a registered republican....well because....I can’t stand trump. I vote for the candidate who I think will do the best job, and give no credence to party...I do give credence to Credence Clearwater Revival, however.
You voted for Trump. Me too.
Nope, I voted for Biden.

Mask wearing at Temple recommend question

There is a TR question that asks if you sympathize with any groups that teach things contrary to the church...would those who don’t wear masks count in this group?
I could argue that they should be in this group.
Thoughts?

Re: The Best Two Years?

Assuming you were still a TBM, what changes to mission rules would have make your mission better?
For me, I would have like to spend time touring the country, swimming, having breaks and vacations. I lived my mission, but having some Funtime would have been nice.

Re: The Best Two Years?

Like most of life's experiences, my mission (Winnipeg, late 1980s) had some positive and some negative aspects. That said, for an introverted individual like me, the whole door-to-door religion sales business was a deeply destructive, anxiety producing endeavor. Combined with the constant worry ove...

It was a benefit. I learned a new language and a new culture. If I had to do it over again, I would but a bit differently. I would take vacation time during the mission.

Re: Restored vs. Continuing Revelation

It is a paradox. As Mormons, we believe the article of faith that says we believe all that has been revealed and all that more will be revealed in the future...meaning, we fully expect things to change. Yet, Mormons think that all doctrine is revealed currently. How many times have you heard people ...

Are Bible stories Fables?

I was recently thinking of mythology, fables and other stories and it dawned on me that Bible stories seem a lot like fables. A fable is a short story, usually with animals or something supernatural that conveys a moral. Adam and Eve and the serpent: sounds like a fable. Jack and the beanstalk: has ...

My son is researching the history of Deseret. Can anyone recommend a not-too-biased book or maybe articles/papers?
There was a tv show called How States Got Their Shapes had a small discussion on Deseret on the segment about Utah.

1. I still don’t want to participate. 2. Members and the Q14 would think President Nelson was incapacitated, lost his mind, and would be bound to a wheelchair and muzzle while the auto-pen transfers power of the corporate sole over to Oaks. Yep. Both the auto-pen and the little penlight and pad of ...

I think the only way agency works is if you exercise your agency to not tell anyone anything about your life choices. Also, if you exercise your agency to not give a F$$k.

Looking at the title of the article, it appears Elder Bednar is feeling less legitimate as a leader. Legitimacy is given by the members, perhaps more members are feeling the leaders are not even needed.

The first real crack in my shelf was a similar logistics analysis with Noah’s ark. All the animals on Earth couldn't have fit in Noah’s barge for 40 days. Now think how hard it would be to last for a year on a small barge!

Hmm... I prophesy that future GC talks will come out of this for generations to come. We knew that our affliction would be a shield among t...
