Re: How do we know the Church has repented?
We will know when Oaks says the church apologizes for all its terrible deeds.

Re: Officially declared non tithe payer and proud of it
I stopped attending the annual shakedown a few years back. This was one of my big shelf items. I got tired of the audacity of the church to make people declare they have paid the multi-billion dollar corporation 10% of their earnings. It feels like a mafia shakedown.

Re: "Letting Go of God" by Julia Sweeney
This was absolutely amazing. Well performed. I don’t know how she memorized 2+ hours of content like that.
The same faith questions she went through, I have gone through.

Re: What is the most harmful lie the Church has perpetrated?
That you must obey and sacrifice for some guy in Salt Lake City because he has a direct hotline to God. That's the one right there - the unquestioned obedience is to me the most harmful because IMO it leads to all of those other issues mentioned above. I’ve been thing about this for a few days and I ...

Re: Following leaders
I can see where this is headed with the temporary commandments Oaks is teeing up. He will get rid of coffee and tea from the WoW. The church will then create a new coffee company called Deseret Brew. The church will modify one of the small classrooms in each church house to be a small storefront ...

Re: Heretic Movie
I've been looking forward to this one and plan to watch it later this week with a (still fully active) friend. Glad to hear it's worth seeing. Please let us know how your active friend reacts to the movie. I know this type of movie is right in the NOM and Ex Mormon wheelhouse. But I am very ...

This was a great article. It seems to not be specific for one type of religion but rather for people of all religions who lose faith.

Re: Ward and Stake Combining
It looks like my ward and a neighboring ward are combining, in addition to my stake and a neighboring stake combining. Attendance has been pretty sparse since covid, so this is an overdue change. This is in Salt Lake County. I'm not looking forward to a bunch of new faces who may not know to just ...

Re: Changes in garments
This appears to be hitting the TBMs as hard as the Covid pandemic. Boomers have been complaining since the church went to the two piece garment set. Gen X has joined the Boomers in suggesting how slutty the new shoulder porn garments look. Millennials and Gen Z don’t care what others think. The new d ...

Re: 2023 PRRI Census of American Religion
This is a fascinating survey, and offers so many angles to view religion in the United States. For me it was fascinating to view the median age of the various religious groups. I was surprised that LDS median age went from 44 to 42. This is the opposite of what I'm seeing in the Salt Lake Valley ...
