Scientists have established a link between brain damage and religious fundamentalism

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/03/scientists-established-link-brain-damage-religious-fundamentalism/ This is a very interesting study. It doesn't specifically mention mormonism but in reading the description of religious fundamentalists, it hits mormonism directly on the head. I like this quote, it p...

According to the SLTrib, the First Pres says mormons don't have to be republican.

Nothing about it on KSL or the Desperate News. I wonder why the church owned media doesn't have anything about it. Perhaps they don't want to ruffle the feathers of the member who believe it's impossible to be Mo and vote democratic.

Re: Your Mission- the best and worst.

Worst: A companion. Best: A companion. I went to San Diego. I'll admit I was somewhat disappointed in staying in the US (I REALLY wanted Japan or South America) and more disappointed in going to California but in retrospect San Diego is a damn near perfect place. It was odd to grow up a few miles fr...

What spirit made of?

This is an article claiming that the Large Hadron Collider disproves the existence of spirits. Basically, if there were particles or some sort of energy capable of carrying on human memories or our personalities, physics would have found them by now. http://www.wired.co.uk/article/the-lhc-proves-gho...

Re: Body as tangible as mans

How does god transport that body through space and time, from Kolob to Earth and back again? Kolob doesn't seem to be anywhere near our solar system so I'm guessing Kolob would be hundreds of thousands of light years away (at least). If it takes light a few hundred thousand years to travel across sp...

Re: Konfession Time

Konfession: I gave a blessing to a home teachee yesterday using unconsecrated oil. I just got it out of the main kitchen stock a few minutes beforehand. If you stop and think about it for one second, consecrated oil blessings are one of the weirdest, silliest things in the church. Who checks whethe...

Re: Konfession Time

My wife and I have watched the entire Outlander series on Starzs. Fantastic. My DW was quite TBM when it came to nudity. She loves it now. We both do. This series is full of love, passion, intrigue, sex, wars, etc. We both have loved it and now can't wait for the next season. Best of all: no guilt....

Re: First Sunday Councils

I don't attend SS or PH, I haven't in years. After Sac Meeting on Sunday a guy came up to me to tell me he did our home teaching this month so I wouldn't need to worry about it. I guess I'm his home teaching partner. Nobody has said a thing to me about home teaching in six or seven years. My partner...

Tom Christofferson on Radio West

http://radiowest.kuer.org/post/conversation-tom-christofferson I haven't listened to it yet but he was interviewed yesterday. Deseret Book is publishing a book about how the church > the gay. The real question is how much is Deseret Book paying him for his story? As I mentioned in the original threa...

Re: The Inoculation is Working

The thing with the multiple versions of the first vision is that none of them are true. You cannot have different versions of the same story and have any of them be true. Truth and inconsistency is mutually exclusive. Apologists try to clam the reason for the different versions is because the audien...

Re: An Apostle's Brother is Gay and Came Back to Church. Yea for the Church!

Can the church afford the PR of having an apostle with a gay brother?
I'm not a conspiracy theorist by any means but it wouldn't surprise me if there is something going on behind the scenes. Some sort of payment for sharing his story. I know that is probably dumb but I wouldn't put it past them.

Re: Who is the biggest tool/who do you dislike the most?

I've heard those stories about Elder Bernard, but they sound more like rumors than documented stories. Is there a way to verify them? Someone posted on this board many years ago about a fireside with Bednar before he was an apostle. He was approachable and had a Q&A after the fireside. Anyone could...

For the record I'm convinced the 2nd coming is definitely NOT happening but if it did happen and I was burning, I would laugh at all the suckers who paid tithing. I mean, I'm still getting resurrected and I'll be skiing and mountain biking with my immortal body instead of doing temple work or singin...

If my son goes on a mission I'm going to remind him in every email that he is:
1- An Adult
and
2- A volunteer. Which means that he can do whatever the hell he wants.
