Re: Section 110

I think there's a strong possibility that Oliver was Confederate in much of the founding history but that doesn't mean he was co-conspirator in or even aware of all of Joseph's shenanigans. I just don't think in the particular case of section 110 that anything of remark happened on that day. With th...

Re: Section 110

One thing this brings up is the idea of a confederate. RFM talked about some tricks require the use of a 2nd person who is in on the trick/scam. They are called a confederate. They know what is going on and how the trick works, but play along and they are part of making the trick work. Looking at t...

Re: Is The ANY record of Prophecy About Corona?

The only thing I've read so far is Rusty saying we'll get through this thing and "there are wonderful days ahead." He stated this in his latest address to church members. So if there is a second "wave" he might look kind of funny. Although he could always say he didn't say precisely when those wonde...

Re: RFM: Nothign Up My Sleeve...

While looking for an actual description of Joseph's white top hat, I came across this pro-mormon article that just thoroughly makes me gag. These people will go to ANY length to make the square peg fit in the round hole. This poor woman makes a huge leap of parallels between Joseph using the hat and...

Re: RFM: Nothign Up My Sleeve...

A couple things I learned were with regard to the head in the hat: 1. The hat was in fact white, not black as normally depicted..........With the hat being white, it is translucent enough that someone can read something inside it. JSjr may have simply had notes stashed in the hat...... This is news...

Re: Section 110

Seems Mormon dialogue had a thread on this topic back in 2013. There may be info there. Haven't read everything yet. Take it with a grain of salt. https://www.mormondialogue.org/topic/61988-who-wrote-dc-110-does-jsp-have-a-different-version/ ETA: Apparently Joseph wrote a "version" of the D&C 110 vi...

Re: Section 110

Some things to note. It's written by Warren Cowdery, apparently. He wrote it in the third person, so he does not appear to be dictating from JS or OC. Also, there appear to be marks crossing out the pages on the original photos. Does that mean that it was rejected? This is crazy. So who had the gum...

Re: LDS Church proposes new community near future Tooele Valley Temple

I don't know southern Utah that well. Maybe because Tooele isn't in Southern Utah? If this new community was in Southwest Utah, I would think it was a great idea, rather than a purposeless money making venture. Southern Utah is the fastest growing area of Utah. No, Tooele is in north western Utah, ...

Re: LDS Church proposes new community near future Tooele Valley Temple

I just wondered what the great industry was that is going to support this community?

Admittedly, I haven't been to Tooele in maybe....well, maybe never. But isn't it just a town in the desert down there, with some sort of military goings on? I don't know southern Utah that well.

Re: RFM: Nothign Up My Sleeve...

I'm sticking with the pinhole hat trick. The Chinese learned about this phenomenon five centuries B.C. It can even be done with your fingers if you play with it for awhile. But a hat would be perfect. Trying to read something inside a hat while your face was inside it would strain your close-up visi...

Re: Historical archeologist frustrated with "Charlatans" promoting tall tales re. Mound builders

Where do we find giants in the BoM? The only connection I can think of between the giants and the BoM is William Smith's description of the Urim and Thummim as being so large Joseph could only look through one lens at a time. William had apparently heard about the race of giants and assumed they we...

Re: Historical archeologist frustrated with "Charlatans" promoting tall tales re. Mound builders

This is hilarious. Of course the earth mounds were not made by ancient Mormons. Everyone knows they were made by Sasquatches and then protected by native Americans. Actually the Native Americans told the Sasquatches that if they wanted their mounds protected they would have to "do it by yourZelph"....

Historical archeologist frustrated with "Charlatans" promoting tall tales re. Mound builders

Thought many of you would find this short article interesting. Especially the reaction of many of the questioners who refuse to accept this historical archeologists answers. Kind of sad to know how the church/members are actually viewed by the rest of the world. https://www.dispatch.com/news/2020042...

Re: Culture of Fake Friends

I have plenty of cringe moments to look back on. I had a conversation with a nevermo friend at work recently that has known me from my TBM-ist days to my present disaffected state and she told me how much nicer I am now that I'm an apostate. Apparently I had sort of this judgy, fake nice, weird vib...

Re: Culture of Fake Friends

But it wasn't the Church assignment that brought us together emotionally. What brought us together was my willingness to listen to her and the many shared interests her husband and I have. At the same time, if the Church hadn't assigned me to be her friend, I would probably have never gotten to be ...

Re: Culture of Fake Friends

That is robbing the poor to line the pockets of the very rich institution and Jesus would be horrified. (Is horrified ;) ) To sum up my point, the leaders teach fake caring for people because they really don’t care for people, only the church as an institution. So, on the ground, this translates to...

Re: Culture of Fake Friends

My teenage daughter and I were riding around today and a girl from the ward started texting her. This girl had never really paid attention to or had much to do with my daughter, and all of a sudden, she's asking about how she's doing and all. DD was surprised and kind of happy this girl was thinkin...

Re: Unwritten Articles of Faith

This was a funny thread. I think its clear that basically anything, at any time, can be potentially an article of faith, but they can be pulled back at anytime and members will support it. Maybe it's time for an overhaul: The One Article of Faith: We believe in believing what we are told to believe...
