Re: Grandpa saved from fire

This is on par with the stupid story of the LDS soldier in Iraq who was saved when the scriptures he carried in his load bearing vest stopped a bullet. I had to hear this story at least three times a week when I deployed with the UTARNG. Gag.

Re: Does anyone have examples of a GA being a bully?

So D.A. Bednar now has an Instagram page. His first post has him standing arms crossed facing a young girl while she is standing, back towards the camera. One post asked what was happening in the picture. Being the sarcast that I am I replied "Why that is Bednar scolding the girl for standing up bef...

No one ever stopped by my home before. No one stops by my house now. Either way it's a win/win for my family.

Re: Former fundamentalist neighbors

I grew up across the street from some of the Kingston clan. They mostly kept to themselves and only a few went to public school. I became close friends with Joseph Kingston. He was one heck of a basketball player. For the most part they were decent neighbors.

Re: Bill Reel Gets Ultimatum from Stake President

Why are you all worrying about what the SP, bishop or any church leadership says? I don't buy into the existence of God anymore but when I did I always thought that he had more sway in my eternal progression than the opinions of some group of MBAs turned church leadership. Excommunicate me. Disfello...

Re: Church Growth: Boy, were they wrong

While living in Georgia I had a bishop, who was actually quite a good guy, stand up in SM with his wife who was the RS pres and announce that they were done with church. They stated that they believed it to be true but that all the time they had to commit to it was ruining their family and their ma...

Re: A Robust Sexual Ethic

My views on sexuality have not changed at all since leaving the church. I slept around a lot before I joined the church and I can honestly say that when I did so I felt like garbage. My relationships were garbage. Now that I am married I can honestly tell my kids to wait until they are married and i...

Re: Church Growth: Boy, were they wrong

aybe our new plan will be to forget about Missouri and call U Yes, the church is following the same trend of decreasing convert and retention rates. I guess the question to ask is why? Probably related to the internet and social media. A few thoughts: 1) When i was a kid, church was a place to talk ...

Re: SLC Gay Pride Bashing

Let me clarify my position here. I love my daughter and have always supported her. Goodness, I spent nearly 40k for her college not to mention buying her a car to drive. I like her girlfriend. I like her girlfriend more than my step-daughter😜. When my wife and I declined to attend the "pride" festiv...

Re: SLC Gay Pride Bashing

I know I will get attacked for this but here goes. I for one am sick and tired of all of this "pride" nonsense. My daughter was never popular with the boys. She is shy and a bit socially awkward but she always liked boys. Until she met another girl who took interest in her. Now, my daughter claims t...

Re: In which I lose my best friend

My best friend of 33 years and his wife decided to up and move to Missouri last year. They claim they were promted to. Who am I to question what they believe? They tried to convince my wife and I to move out there also but when I finally explained how I no longer believe in the church they cut off a...

Re: Pope Francis tells gay man: 'God made you like that'

Maybe if the LDS church ever lets gays get married in the temple my wife will finally leave the church. One can only hope...that my wife leaves the church.

Re: Married but attracted....

Myself and "Mrs. T" agreed that we were headed in a bad direction so things were stopped. However, when we see one another while dropping off the kids we give each other that "look." I feel like a dirtbag even though this never really went anywhere. I guess my questions is if other people have dealt...

Married but attracted....

Question for any married people. So I am happily married but ran into an old friend who moved into an adjacent neighborhood. Our kids attend the same school and our daughters have become friend. Well, the talking became texting which became flirting and now I am totally infatuated. I will under no c...

Re: No to Medical Marijuana for Utah

My wife and I signed the petition to legalize MJ and now we have been inundated with mail trying to convince us to retract our support. Its bothering me how al of these groups whether pro of con have such easy access to the list of those who supported this initiative. I am not really supportive of M...

Re: Brother Jake Defends the Book of Mormon, Part 3

Forgive me for my politically incorrect question/observation and total hijack of this thread but why are 90% of LDS guys total beta males like this Jake fellow? 75% of the guys in my ward look like they would lose a fight to an emaciated Peewee Herman.

Welcome. I just recently joined myself. I wish I could have my wife talk to you. She is in the same boat. Re: Meaning of Joseph's death

Just like we have been told by prophets again and again. God won't allow a man to lead the church astray. Even if that means you to get killed in a gun fight. BTW. What better way to get the masses to follow you blindly other than to tell them that "God won't allow me to lead you astray." I wonder h...

Re: Buckle up, apocalypse imminent!

Alpaca-lips! That's hilarious. I just helped my parents move and we probably dumped a full ton of wheat and beans from the 1970's. I have helped them move this junk to three, now four different homes with the council of "one day it will be worth it's weight in gold." Moms council this weekend was "Y...
