Re: Polygamy and later sexual repression

..." I have had no husband to love so all my love has been for them." Polygamy hits home to me as dealing with an adulterous "high priest" husband seems similar. The quote "I have had no husband to love " hit home - or rather, I would say "I choose to no longer love my husband", or "I choose to not...

Re: Mormon Channel: How to Cope When a Loved One Changes Beliefs

I liked the video. I recognize that there is an angle to the video and discussing his beliefs would be off the table for the Channel, but I like that they are sticking it out. At least they don't make him out to be a complete jerk who drinks all the time and steps out on their marriage. Yes, I woul...

Re: Please God help me !

Sundays are always so depressing - my husband goes to church, I go once a month or so - just to sacrament - to be with the kids :( My husband's salvation does not depend on me - he's happily fantasizing about all the other women he can marry... so no encouragement to attend church from him.. . I'm ...

Re: Stake Conference

Wow, reading this is making me so glad I am not in Utah. There has to be at least a few other faith communities you can visit? The only advice I have is "Be the change you want to see in the world" and all that, just keep smiling, teach them what authenticity is. I am in a mixed-faith marriage as we...

Re: NOM CALL FOR ACTION!!!

We could turn it into an "Amnesty International" type of campaign - ie - post a few addresses for people to write letters to, share their story of how Bill's podcasts helped them etc. I like how Sam Young has his website set up - sharing everyone's stories. It could be similar, only the stories shar...

Re: Marriage Vows

The word "love" does not appear in any part of the LDS temple ceremony. The temple is control mechanism for loyalty and love has not part of it. That is so sad.... Here is an example of vows atheists take: I, (name), take you, (name), to be my lawfully wedded (wife/husband), to have and to hold fro...

Re: Mormon Channel: How to Cope When a Loved One Changes Beliefs

I think it is sad that the woman's heart is more attached to her church than to her husband. It is very telling where loyalty and love are - that she was not really in love with her husband as a person, she was just in love with the idea of being "sealed", in love with the idea of looking good at ch...

Re: New Video on Mixed-Faith relashonships

Oh. thanks, I did not see it over there. I agree, it is not a typical example of a non-believing spouse - the believer is made out to be the "victim". I am the non-believing spouse as well. The church broke its covenant with me, the church lied to me, I am not the evil disloyal dishonest one here.

Marriage Vows

The typical marriage covenant goes something like: Would you please face each other and join hands. (Groom) ___________________do you take _________________to be your wife? Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and protect her, forsaking all others and holding only to her forevermore? (“I do”) (Bri...

What does everyone think of the new video the church put out about mixed faith repalshonships? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0w8i3BMYAXg&fbclid=IwAR3DuVwznUOFpYrOeI5ZfQmk7yDXyk-qXwRluCBNp9Nh9L4SigqMlKJSx7Ia Priorities, loyalty - a faith crisis seems to bring out what is most important to people......

Re: It’s ok if they don’t understand. I have nothing to prove to them.

I think I strongly agree with this idea. But what do you do then with children? Let's say that you and I have become enlightened to the fact that stepping away from Mormonism is good for further development and staying inside could restrain growth. Do kids need an institution in their early life in...

Re: It’s ok if they don’t understand. I have nothing to prove to them.

Here is a question - if you were a G-d, and were trying to raise up other G-ds, what technique would you use? Is it a test of how well you can follow orders or a test of how well you can think for yourself? Awesome thought. Never considered this question before. I suspect an orthodox Mormon would c...
