Re: RFM Podcast on Renlund Devotional

Excellent work consig!! I wonder if you guys would consider looking at the trending of these types of talks. You have Eyring Jr's "am I True", Cook's fail with the Saints launch, Renlund, RMN's revelation talk, changes that are obviously pushed by outside pressure - there is a definite trend here to...

Re: The changing face of LDS INC under RMN...why the rush?

Sorry, it was Holland in a 1995 talk. "May I suggest that wherever possible a white shirt be worn by the deacons, teachers, and priests who handle the sacrament. For sacred ordinances in the Church we often use ceremonial clothing, and a white shirt could be seen as a gentle reminder of the white c...

Re: No one left to ex

I'd love to get ex'ed some day, but I have no following nor do they have any idea who I am. That could complicate my goal there. I'd rather get ex'ed than resign - that's for sure. For a long time I played out my Court O Love in my head. Frankly, I had a very well rehearsed speech that would have s...

Re: August, 1836

Or.... Could it mean that Joseph was caught in a web from which he could not extricate himself? Was the driving force that OTHER people believed in him and had expectations of his abilities as a seer.? Did he feel an obligation to produce because if he didn't he would lose his standing as a leader ...

Re: Scientologists and Mormons actual members statistics

I saw Mike Rinder say 20,000 in the US and I was totally shocked. NJow I'm dying to ask a Scientologist how many members in the US just to see what they say on the inside.

Re: Visit to the Tanners' Bookstore

I dropped in while visiting my daughter a while back. I asked to meet the Elect Lady and she came out, pulled up a chair and invited me to sit across from her for a chat. We spoke for about 30 minutes, but mostly it was her talking and me soaking it in. She was so comfortable. It felt like I was in ...

Re: BOM Origins? John Bunyan's Pilgrims Progress and Holy War

I would postulate, that during writing of the BOM, the story for a given day was based on what JS read the evening before. So whatever he was studding got incorporated into the next day's work. It would help to explain the disorganized structure. We tend to dream up complicated schemes. Your idea i...

Re: Kathleen Melonakos

I loved her book, struggled to listen to her. She's a lousy interview. If you combine her book + the Lucy Code you start to see connections to Dartmouth than were new (to me). I believe this area of history, when fully fleshed out, will unlock some of the links that are now missing re: the creation ...

Just doing a little checking. "Meaning of the Scottish Rite Cap “In the Scottish Rite, the caps [indicate] the consecration of one’s physical and spiritual (material and intellectual) attributes to the betterment of humanity. On the one hand, the caps are an inheritance from our chivalric tradition...

I was able to finally get into the the article (was blocked on my local machine). Makes you sick. Brigham was a piece of sh!t. He didn't care for the women...they were just something to be used. I can't imagine how he became such a leader as it were. He was horrible. Just a reminder that there is a...

Re: Melonakos Interview with John Dehlin

I think Oliver Cowdery works well as a co-conspirator except that his falling out in Kirtland was so drastic that it seems like he would have threatened or spilled the beans about how it actually happened. Why didn't this happen? Melonakos would probably say that he was still bound by a blood oath....

Re: Elder Hamula?

I would have assumed that Hamula would have had the 2nd anointing. Wondering why they would ex him and not Joseph Bishop? Elder Hamula was too public and honest within his own family and within his leadership hierarchy. In contrast, Joseph Bishop kept his indiscretion quiet well past the statute of...

Re: Two Churches - I'm finally starting to get it

After watching people fall all over themselves to pronounce that they are membersofthechruchofjesuschristoflatterdaysaints, and definitely NOT Mormons something became glaringly apparent to me and a lot of things fell into place. Some of us care primarily about information/doctrine/truth (Type 1). ...

Re: Bill Reel and General Conference Rumors

Well, other than 2 hour church, GC is turning out to be a revelation bust. Same as it ever was. I’ve listened to so much conference and obsessively refreshed reddit and fb watching for the “buckle up” exciting news. I feel so played. Same, except only the Reddit part. I couldn't listen. I actually ...

Re: Bill Reel and General Conference Rumors

A thought comes to me. It is striking how members have zero say in the church they sacrifice so much for. I would think many if not most members would welcome all these changes, yet they can do nothing but wait for 15 old guys to do micro changes at a snails pace It's true. I have thought about wha...

At which point he changed the subject to Chem-Trails. I just found out that I know a chem-trail conspiracist. I engaged a Flat Earth guy on reddit a few days ago. It was fascinating at first, but then it just sounded crazy and more like a religious cause than a different scientific analysis. Maybe I was expecting too much.

Hey Stealth - I spend most of my time on reddit these days (so I can openly swear and speak ill, of course). I also added my name to the Bishop's apology. I have to ask a question: are you a Texan? I ask because my wife and I were listening to Sam's friend read the Bishop's apology and one of the na...
