Re: New Dan Peterson article mocking those who question the First Vision accounts... pure insanity.
For someone who claims to be a scientist and a scholar Dan Peterson does not follow scientific or scholarly principles. I'm not sure how he lives with himself.

Re: The brethren's lack of faith
I can't stop thinking about that excerpt from Leonard Arrington's journal where he talks about how afraid The Brethren are about making decisions and consequently exposing themselves to making mistakes. I think these men, despite the arrogance that some of them exude, live in a perpetual state of t...

Re: “Have you been reading the Book of Mormon?”
I say it hurts my testimony to read scriptures because I see the humanness in them... which is true.

Re: Youth fireside ?
Lots of evidence to show that sacrificing for something increases your devotion to that thing. Fasting during the entire month of Ramadan increases devotion to Islam. Selling all of your property and waiting for a missed second coming of Christ increases your devotion even though Christ didn't come....

Re: The brethren's lack of faith
Instead, they teach that you should donate even if it's at the expense of necessities like shelter or food. That's what's wrong. We should be more like the brethren on this point, not less. I agree with you completely, except that they've way over-done it with their rainy-day fund. That is a hell o...

Re: The brethren's lack of faith
One more teaching the brethren ignore for themselves or for the church as a whole, but teach liberally when asking us peons to pay tithing: Jesus telling us how a rich man can get into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew:19:16-24 16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing sh...

The brethren's lack of faith
We recently learned that the brethren have a gigantic "emergency fund". Why? Where is their faith? This goes directly against the teachings of Jesus. Matthew 6:25-34 25 Therefore I say unto you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye s...

Re: Church Connected to $32 Billion in Stock?
This would make sense of them not worrying too much about a 2 Billion dollar investment into City Creek Mall so that the brethren wouldn't have to look at homeless people on their way to work.

Re: Alternate Universe
If you answered Lion, then you are asked to look at Isiah 11:6 where the prophesy is and there it will say the Lamb will lie down with the Wolf. This is used as evidence that the world is on an alternate path and his (conspiracy) theory says that things are going to continue to change. Wow... The t...

Welcome! This is a good place to come to remind yourself that you aren't crazy and the church really isn't true! But we can be respectful of others and kind.

Re: This is a great thread on AskReddit, insane stories from the Bible.
Post: There's a bit in Exodus where God sends Uriel to torment and abuse Moses for not circumcising his Son. Moses was seconds from death when his wife circumcised their son with a rock and laid the foreskin at his feet, sparing his life from grisly archangel murder. God really seems like a fun, lai...

Re: This is a great thread on AskReddit, insane stories from the Bible.
Post: Remember Joseph and his coat of many colors? His siblings did a lot. A man once slept with/raped one of their sisters. The man then asked Joseph's family to marry the girl. The brothers agreed, but said that the man and his entire village/tribe would need to get circumcised first. So all the m...

So I know a bit off topic but I was asked by someone (I Haven't come out to my Parents yet about my faith crisis) If it would be easier to tell them I was cheating on my wife or that I was switching religions I find it sad that the answer was Cheating on my wife. Ya. Wow. It shows how much of a cri...

Re: Married but attracted....
This is a very common human situation. Few marriages are sturdy enough for this level of honesty. I like this. Most marriage partners are just like most Mormons. They prefer to ignore reality (my spouse is attracted to others) in favor of what they want to believe. Infidelity is pretty much the end...

Re: My Kids
How far down the Rabbit hole should I go? You can just stop investigating things when you are happy with your belief system! Just don't be judgmental of those who dig deeper. Realize that it is all about the community and friendships for your kids. So if they can find a similar group of friends the...
