Re: A one-liner that captures your disaffection
I still remember the day I read an article in the Tribune about DNA and the BOM. I googled for more information and ended up watching a video about the Book of Abraham. About half way though the video I thought to myself: "Joseph made it all up." A switch inside me flipped at the moment and I have b...

Re: What did you really learn from the temple ceremony?
I remember back when my wife and I used to attend the temple after we were married. She would always ask me afterward what I learned that was new. It added a little more pressure each visit because I would have to come up with something to say afterward. That little bit of extra pressure did't help ...

Re: "We don't say that person is gay..." - I'm furious about labeling
I would love to hear an official explanation for keeping the name of their Mormon and Gay website: https://mormonandgay.churchofjesuschrist.org/ That's a double victory for Satan perpetrated by the church itself. Let's see. What should they change it to? https://MemberOfTheChurchOfJesusChristOfLatt...

Get an audio recorder app for you phone and record the meeting. It isn't too hard but make sure to test things out before the actual meeting. You never know when one of these guys will say something interesting, and it is always nice to have a recording of it. We are a record keeping people after al...

Re: People Investigates: Cults
Wow, I need to watch this. It looks like you can watch the first season free on the website, but you need to pay for season 2. This channel might start providing content for HULU soon. I don't see it on Netflix or Amazon Prime. (It is on amazon but you need to pay) Most episodes/cults have very str...

Re: Elder Snow: Race essay was intentionally ambiguous
Shouldn’t his “balance on a knife’s edge” analogy be a template for all church messaging? They have to appease the old and the young. They have to appease the smart and dumb. They have to appease the believer and unbeliever. They have to speak out of both sides of their mouth in order to communicat...

Re: Elder Snow: Race essay was intentionally ambiguous
Ironically enough when it comes to the race and the priesthood essay, the church is a "fence-sitter." You have got to admin that they are really in a bind. No matter which side of the fence (or knife edge) they come down on there are problems. Do we blame the racism on God or God's mouthpiece? So to...

Elder Snow: Race essay was intentionally ambiguous
Elder Steven E. Snow was recently interviewed on the Salt Lake Tribune podcast Mormon Land episode 93. When asked if the Race essay was carefully worded to be ambiguous he said: With race We kind of tried to balance it on a knife's edge ... We tried to really balance the best we could on the informa...

Anything new going on with the church in Holland? Or are you even aware of how things are going there anymore?

Re: Are youth really leaving?
I live in an upper middle income area of Alpine Ut, with several wards in our stake being very affluent. My observation is that I don't see many people leaving the church. In fact, we've had at least 6 new families move into our ward recently, each one more TBM than the last. I see evidence that so...

Re: How to find a good marriage counselor
Thanks to everyone for their input. I have a couple of counselors to consider and might be contacting them soon. By the way, I have tried to PM a couple of people about their responses, but for some reason the PMs just seem to sit in the outbox and don't appear to be sent. Maybe I am doing something...

Re: Will Nelson apologize to the NAACP?
Nelson did not apologize, but the guy (Brown) and introduced him implyed he did, maybe in private? From the SLTrib reporting on the event: Nelson did not apologize for the church’s previous racial policy, but Brown seemed to suggest the faith already had. The Latter-day Saints “had the courage to s...

Re: Secret combinations
I remember once in gospel doctrine class the teacher had us turn to the Book of Abraham Facsimiles and talked about them for quite a while. I was a believer at the time and thought it was kind of weird and tuned most of it out. I look back on that now and wonder if he was sending out a signal. One w...

How to find a good marriage counselor
I am looking for advice in finding a good marriage counselor. I would need someone in Utah County or south Salt Lake that has worked with mixed faith couples before. Does anyone know of some good counselors of have advice on how to look for one? I think my RBM DW is ready to throw in the towel and I...
