Re: Church wants more Christ-centered artwork in buildings

If I had my way, they can throw out “I am a child of God” too because that line about “has given me an earthly home with parents kind and dear“ makes children with abusive parents feel like they must not be children of God because he sent them to parents straight from hell. Believe me, I know cause...

Totally. I've never seen the press so freaked out by and so against any president in my life.
That applies not only to the press but the majority of the world. Trump is totally unpresidented, bigly!

Covfefe!!!
Wow! :o

Re: Temple Initiatory: Men vs. Women.

I felt more put out by the fact that the man gets to know his wife's new name but she didn't get to know his. Also the veiling of the face bugged me. I didn't like having to share my new name but not knowing his, but I wasn't allowed to not like it (in my own mind), because women were second class ...

Re: Temple Initiatory: Men vs. Women.

ts like a fish not noticing water, it all seems so normal until you take a step back with a fresh perspective and realize how many, many messed up things there are about it. Sometimes I am dumbfounded that I just accepted all of this stuff. Never again. Yep. Totally normal. Unquestioned. But now th...

Re: Temple Initiatory: Men vs. Women.

Am I on the right track to understanding, or am I way off track? Sounds about right to me. No subservience in the initiatory. Just women with no man overseeing anything. And, to me, women naked around women isn't that big of a deal (I was sure, when I first went through, that it would be a man doin...

Re: Horrifying Initiatory Story on Reddit

I was endowed in 1980, but even though it was creepy to be running around pretty much naked ("what are they actually going to do to me?" type of thing), it ended up not as bad as I feared. I've done initiatory many many times and the women never touched further in than the front of my side ("loins")...

Re: Donald Trump A Most Noble President

Whether you like him or not, you have to have amazingly strong staying power and thick skin to weather the media backlash and storm that he has endured. And again whether you agree with what he says or not, he handles those daily press conferences better than the media themselves. Totally. I've nev...

Re: LDS Church proposes new community near future Tooele Valley Temple

Wow! So, in effect, a multi-billion dollar corporation comes in and forces out smaller businesses and the people who live there. Sort of like the emperor in The Emperor's New Groove before he realized that other people were actually people . I used to live in Tooele. The Erda location was controvers...

Re: LDS Church proposes new community near future Tooele Valley Temple

I kind of wonder what's in their heads. First a city they plan to build in Florida and now this. Do they think they are building precursors to Zion, I wonder?

Re: Culture of Fake Friends

I shouldn't say this is impossible. But I would say it is the exception rather than the rule. Definitely the exception. I was around 45 years of age when this happened. And my wife has mentioned numerous times how much nicer, more relaxed and authentic I have become. My two older kids have told me ...

Re: Culture of Fake Friends

Is there such a thing in the church as a genuine friendship? Yes, there is. When I was growing up, my real friends at Church were my friends because we lived near each other, so that doesn't count. At college, some of the people at Church were my friends because we lived in the same dorm or shared ...

You could say "what a genius" for making a lot of money doing nothing, but I say "what an idiot" to not care about anyone.

Re: 100% Jesus

One other tidbit I would like to throw in is I was reading a book about near death experiences and this person that died said God didnt care about Doctrine. he cared about how we treat each other !!! Food for thought . Thanks !! I see that in the majority of near death experiences I've read. The nu...

Re: 100% Jesus

Besides - give 100% to Jesus? Which Jesus? The evangelical version? The Catholic version? The Methodist version? The Episcopalian version? Jesus can be a very different deity depending on the lens of the religion you are viewing him through- what makes this guy think his Jesus is the one to give 10...

Re: 100% Jesus

I had a conversation with an evangelical about wanting to leave the church but I love my wife more than I hate the church so I stay for her . He told me I have to give 100% to Jesus and leave the church , if she comes with me good if she leaves me oh well I can find someone else. I'm not about to d...

Re: Future of handshakes at church/temple

As a sexual abuse victim, I just didn’t like creepy old men insisting that I shake their hands. My instinct was to back away when creep stuck his hand out. And some men got very offended when I backed away from them in a display of fear and distrust, but why were they so aggressive about a handshak...

Re: Future of handshakes at church/temple

It may be strange but i think handshaking is a thing of the past in society at large. Long after the pandemic abates the paranoia will persist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I hope so. I never really liked it and, as a tbm, it never occurred to me to say no. I had a daughter who said no to the...
