How do you get your spouse to see that people can still be good after leaving the church?
So wife and I had a conversation this morning about the church. She found out I was still drinking coffee and that I had lied to one of my sons about it. She just had a friend leave the church and she has others that she knows in her family who've left the church and feels like that a lot of them en...

Re: The Cost of a Janitor
I am on the cleaning crew in our ward. We do it every 3rd month. This is our month and I was only able to do it 1x this month due to being out of town and such. So yes the poor people in charge are stuck with the brunt of it and it's a lot of work for just a couple of people. It would be nice if som...

Re: Slowly fading away? The future of NOM?
Thanks guysSo far the cost for hosting has been NOMinal and has been absorbed by a few aNOMymous apostates whom may or may not be offsetting their tithes and offerings to the LDS church.

Re: Slowly fading away? The future of NOM?
Yeah, I feel like a lot of you are "kindred" spirits. So it's nice to have a place to come and commiserate or discuss Mormon issues or problems. And get advice on how to navigate life in a mixed faith marriage and so forth. And how to navigate life outside of Mormonism. Hopefully Nom can stay around...

Re: Mormon Patriotism in Missouri.
That is a great find/connection Deacon. It explains why the Missourians were so against the Mormons being there. It would be interesting to get more info on that.

Re: We do not feel that we’re obligated to fill in that box.
Are we our brothers' keepers? In other words, are we responsible to look after the well-being of our neighbors as we seek to earn our daily bread? The Savior's Golden Rule says we are. Satan says we are not. Tempted of Satan, some have followed the example of Cain. They covet property and then sin ...

Good find RR! Boy further evidence of their fraud. Yet we will certainly not hear any confessions or apologies right?

Les Miserables Do You Hear the People sing
I went to Les Miserables last night in Salt Lake. I really like the song Do you hear the people sing. And reading the lyrics reminds me of those of us who have changed our beliefs or have left the church. Sometimes I feel like it would be cool to start a revolution. But I guess it's already started ...

Re: Just because I _____, doesn’t mean I _____.
Just because I don't believe in God or Jesus anymore, doesn't mean I don't have moral standards.
Just because I don't feel as guilty as I did before when I sin, doesn't mean I don't want to be a better person.

Re: Why do brands collapse?
That is interesting! Sounds like what's happening to Mormonism. With new knowledge and the internet the people are leaving the faith especially the millenials and gen z kids. Yet in poorer countries like Africa and South America the church is still going strong perhaps because they lack access to th...

Re: NeverMo friend and eternal families
We just went to the open house of a new temple in Utah. Afterwards my wife said with emotion that her favorite part was sitting as a family in the celestial room because she is hoping that that will be like us in heaven after we die. Boy the church has a strong hold on members and families about thi...

Re: Building community
Yeah I think that is one area that probably makes my wife so stuck in the church. She appreciates all of the community she gets out of it--from visiting teaching/ministering to relief society to young women's. It's hard to compete with the church with those things. But she also has school activities...

Re: Marital strife
Stuck, I missed this post somehow. Here’s my advice. Don’t make your interactions transactional. I’ll do this …. If you do that. It doesn’t get you anywhere other than posturing against each other from an “opposite team” perspective. Here’s how it’s been for us. Your team is using your logical brai...

Re: Marital strife
Thanks for your responses guys! Hey I saw a counselor today and we talked about the situation. My wife suffers a bit from anxiety and she feels that a lot of it comes from my faith transition. I believe her anxiety is keeping her from coming to terms with my non-belief. That is why she wants me to d...

Marital strife
So my shelf began to crash in 2013 or 2014 after the Blacks and the priesthood came out. Then shortly thereafter I had kind of a spiritual experience and came back until I began to question that spiritual experience. My wife and I had some discussions and we read the horrible Michael Ashe apologetic...
Re: Alcohol?
I have only tried non-alcoholic beer thus far. It gave me a little brain fog which I didn't like. I think I would like to experiment a bit more but am aware of the dangers and don't want to get cancer or become an alcoholic. Besides, I don't think my wife would approve. Her grandfather became an alc...
