I'm ashamed to admit I used this flawed argument many times on my mission.

Re: Joseph Smith the fortune teller

You're absolutely right. LDS p...

One more factor:
-Spouse's family and how dedicated/unified they are in church activity (fear of family rejection/judgement)

Re: "Nevermind, just Stay in the Boat"

I'm in the same position of being in a virtual leper colony. My home teacher went on a senior mission and there is no replacement yet. Could just be laziness on the part of the HPG, but I sorta doubt it.

I have also shared the brother Jake videos with my favorite non-mormon friends. They loved it. It's the most succint humorous guide to mormon culture and belief out there.

Re: Early LDS persecution

It's not just LDS persecution that is misrepresented historically, but early Christianity as well. There is a pretty darn good radio west episode "The Myth of Persecution" that is fun to listen to. I would almost say that modern Christians in the middle east have more legitimate persecution recorded...

Really enjoying this thread. Sometimes when I think I'm more mellow in the tribe, something jumps out that stirs up the anger again though.

I have done the email declaration for the last three years and not any complaints from wife or Bishop. This year I'm too lazy to even send an email.

Re: The Divine Genius of the Lord's Church - Ensign Article

I wonder if this reprint is related to the growing discussions of allowing the president to retire. President Monson is apparently in end stage dementia. His counselors will run the church. The president can't quit because of the corporation sole business organization set up for the corporation of ...

Re: Science proves it's true

Yes the science justifications when they agree with tenets are heavily used. I was handed a big packet of Islamic publications once while in the middle east. It talked about the miracle of conception and how Allah designed it all perfectly. Very fascinating to look at the same methodology for suppor...

The Divine Genius of the Lord's Church - Ensign Article

At home on the table I noticed the October ensign and picked it up to read a re-print of a message from Pres. Hinkley. https://www.lds.org/ensign/2016/10/the-divine-genius-of-the-lords-church?lang=eng Highlights that I took issue with: Some express concern that the President of the Church is likely ...
