Re: An update from The Netherlands
Good question 2BizE And my answer is: I tried several churches over 4 years, but none fit the bill. Or more exact, I didn't really fit them. And other replacements, none really to be exact, I read more and do astronomy more. I'd call that: "Getting the Mormon out of the Church is easier than getting...

Re: An update from The Netherlands
Hi Red Ryder, Well I left the Church, then we decided to divorce and she also left the Church. Regrets: a few, and one is particularly hard to describe. My tastes and sensibilities are still pretty much skewed towards mormonism. And I mean that where relationships and partner-selection are concerned...

Re: An update from The Netherlands
Hi Yobispo, I've been visiting the ward where I was baptized sporadically. In the South of the country, not my assigned ward though. Just for the social contacts, I'm not a member of record anymore. What I heard through the grapevine is that it's about 10-12% at the moment. And that seems to be the ...

An update from The Netherlands
Hello all, It's been a while. A lot has happened, new position, new apartment, daughter in the house here. I almost forgot about Covid. My dad now being retired and very ill. My kids both being in CBT for PTSD as a result of mormonism. The church bleeding members especially the last half-year. The R...

About the Church, not much in the loop.
More units still closing, and the loss in active membership as a result is abt 40% compared with 2015

An update from Holland - the country
Hello all, It’s been a while. Lots of things have changed. First of all I suddenly find myself having a new place of my own. Signed the lease on a new condo just 2 weeks ago. Secondly: My DD is moving in with me, she’s had enough of her mother. “I’m the adult one dad, mom is acting like a young teen...

Re: Wheat, wheat, wheat, still giving me the occasional nightmares
Ha! It took me waaaay longer than it should have to swap the . with a , for US numbering. US: 100.000 LBS = One hundred pounds 100,000 = One hundred thousand pounds EURO: 100.000 LBS = One hundred thousand pounds I was momentarily confused about why you needed a trailer to haul 100 lbs of wheat We ...

My son’s the last formal holdout
This afternoon during a lovely sushi-lunch I posited the question whether my girl would want to resign from the Church. She asked why she should. Missionaries and members give my ex and the kids a wide berth. Ex resigned, I did it for her. DD felt it not needed till I pointed out that her greataunt ...

Wheat, wheat, wheat, still giving me the occasional nightmares
Hello all, TLDR: I was so TBM I single-handedly organized a shipment of 100.000 poinds of wheat from England to Holland and arranged packing and preserving. Both which never had been done in Continental Europe, and never have been done since. In Holland we had little in the way of storage and people...

Re: I think I want to be cremated...
Cremation is not a problem. You can get burned up quite fine. The biodegradable-templestuff is Paper, yes paper. In Holland graves get emptied after 10 years (unless you pay for an extension which is thousands of dollars) Emptied meaning they dig you up again, and toss whatever remains into a massgr...

Re: Exmo-Reddit, sometimes I just can’t handle it
Well Red Ryder,
Lovesick, not yet. But since I live with my parents my mom and dad have said more than once they have had great pain about missing my children’s childhood.
And I feel the same, I have 2 kids but they were mostly “hers”.
So yes, that’s a big reason.
And yes, I have the same doubts.

Exmo-Reddit, sometimes I just can’t handle it
Today I made the mistake of posting on Reddit what I feel about kids. About my vasectomy. About many things. Opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one, and they often stink. Quote Well, I do feel the need to tell a cautionary tale here. Because life can throw you curveballs. Dutch convert, had 2...

Re: Is NOM really "middle way" to any extent anymore?
Do I attend reddit, yes. And now more than ever. Do I attend NOM, yes because this is home. Or to be more exact, I am making sure it stays that way. For anyone transitioning I would recommend NOM over Reddit. As I dive again into the crazy, and as I find myself drawn in again due to that fickle thin...

Re: Is NOM really "middle way" to any extent anymore?
NOM used to be more nuanced some years ago. I do feel more people are less afraid of the Church as they used to be, though the number of throwaway-accounts on reddit would suggest otherwise. As such the need for NOM is diminished, however it still fills a niche for those who desire a more safe and c...
