Re: What art captures your experience and emotions?

Not art, but this picture from Cologne in 1944 The entire old city of Cologne turned to rubble, but the greatest Gothic Cathedral north of the Alps was still standing. To me it means so much. That building in and of itself. The history, it´s construction from 1248 to 1880, the endless work, everythi...

Sir Elton John I´m still standing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JfvAPZGjds You could never know what it's like Your blood like winter freezes just like ice And there's a cold lonely light that shines from you You'll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that mask you use And did you think this f...

Good products sell themselves, no commercial needed.
Since Church is a hard sell, maybe it´s a hard product?
The Gospel of Christ, now that´s an entirely different story, but that is not about prosperity

17 more days, counting down

November 19th my last SIL to marry (in the Temple) gets sealed. So that means 17 more days to attend and pretend. 17 days, and DW feels the same. Next Sunday we have a farewell for a YW who goes to serve. SP will be there, a dutch guy who feels the UK is the greatest nation on earth. Who wears a pop...

One of the advantages I found is I can now have a crush and not feel too bad about it.
DW always says: sniff the smell in the other's kitchen, but come eat at home.

Correct, if status is not FULL TITHE, Stake Presidencymember can´t activate the TR in MLS.
It was my friend´s job to do this when he was in the Presidency (till may 2015)

Re: As an active NOM, how do you engage the church?

Would it help to view it all as sociological field work? You know, going native and writing an ethnography. Here a piece a friend of mine wrote for Dialogue some years ago. He was a Stakepresident in the 80´s and a colleague on the high council. He is Emeritus Professor in Cultural Anthropology. Ar...

Re: As an active NOM, how do you engage the church?

I attend and pretend, and for an ever larger part so does my wife. If you don´t like what I say or do, fine: go ahead and rat me out, it´s your loss and not mine. It reflects poorly on you and not on me. That´s my playbook the last couple of months, and it works fine. In the mean time I am getting m...

Re: Do temple oaths really help?

To me it did, not the oaths in itself.
But the realization that my wife, gave herself to me.

Who was I so send her away after her sacrifices, her help, her supplications etc. etc.

So yes, it did help us, or me, to keep trying in our marriage.

Expensive kitchens no??

Well So just got of a quick call with my friend who visited a Freemason-temple earlier this week. I couln´t attend because I was sick, but he ran into several LDS people who were also visiting the open house there. So a former LDS facilitymanager attended as well. And he told my friend he´s been put...

Nope my friendly pirate.
But for one reason or another a Prophet can do bad things and not get a bad rap.
And a Prince does bad things, and his reputation goes to shits.
Same as for a normal citizen......

Joseph vs HRH Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands

So a few days ago a biography was published of HM Queen Juliana and it mentioned a lot of naughty stuff about her husband, Bernhard. Well, the name might ring a Bell. Founder of the WWF World Wide Fund for nature. Founder of the Bilderberg-conferences. Lockheed-slushfund affair. King George VI said ...

It's how you drill in obedience.
So leaders can and do get away with anything.
Such as my previous SP...... Even near the end people said: remember elder Bednars words??

Internship for a TBM kid

Hello folks Like to have your input here. Counselor to the SP has a 15YO son who needs an internship. Just a short one, it´s mandatory to have an internship of a week for every education. My son does a vocation study, so he does 3 months/year. But this kid is a high-flyer and want to go to College. ...

It´s just myself.
So no Avatar.
My name is no secret here either.

If he chooses to take me on, it´s end of story for him as well.
