Re: The brethren's lack of faith

If I could get people to give me 10% of their money and then work for me for free I could have a nice rainy day fund. It does not take any real genius to have boatloads of cash when you have that kind of scheme going.

Re: On being left out.

There is no evidence God is nice. Who is to say the church is not true. Maybe it is a reflection of God. Not that I adhere to that notion, but so many seem to want the church to be this or that. Yet there are just as many who like it just the way it is. For me I am as certain as I can be that it is ...

Re: Developing apathy towards Mormonism

For me once I was willing to accept the consequences of not believing apathy became easier. It is hard to try and stay in the church to avoid consequences. You just get more bitter because you feel trapped.

Now I just find most things about the church minimally annoying or humorous.

I kind of think the BSA wins in this situation.
I think so. The BSA will be more free to taloir programs that work for today’s youth without the oversight of very old church leaders, who are so far removed from the youth of today as to make it near impossible to relate.

Re: How many actual revelations have happened since Joseph Smith (that have not been disavowed)?

I recall once Gordon Hinckley alluding to the notion that they had moved some church assets around prior to the real estate bubble and subsequent market crash to avoid losses. How about dispensing some of that revelation. Of course that would be measurable thus going against the norm of vauge and no...

Re: No to Medical Marijuana for Utah

Medical marijuana is a farce. The vast majority of people using it are out for a buzz not some pain relief. If not so they would just give you a brownie prescription to take to the pharmacy. I am opposed to most all drugs that alter your mood or behavior except in cases of real mental illness. They ...

Re: Nelson’s tour and tithing

The prosperity gospel teaches that you get rich by paying tithing. So in Nelson’s view he is doing them a favor. Of course there is no imperical evidence it works but that never stops Mormons from preaching it.

I use to believe it myself and never missed paying tithing do 40 years

Re: LDS Church sets date to commemorate 40th anniversary of priesthood revelation

I agree it would be best to just let this one die. Commemorating it just sheds light on how behind the times the church was. Best to let sleeping dogs lie.

Re: Elder Neil Anderson's BYU Devotional address - 4/10/18....

I would like to believe that in general this will be a better program. I am sure some nut jobs will use it as a excuse to measure your devotion to the church, but I think most may feel relieved they just have to keep an eye on a friend. No monthly visits necessary or lame messages.

It was not very long ago that Boyd Packer stood in conference and said it was a long way off. Something like our children’s children would come and go before the second coming.

It's a game I'm willing to play. Nobody here should ever feel less than worthy to go in and answer the appropriate questions to get what you need out of this so called church. The church has used and abused you your whole life. There's nothing wrong with getting what you need in return. That’s my p...

Re: What portion stays? What portion goes?

Really depends on how far you go down the hole. Like others have said most never go very deep. If you go all the way down and spend anytime thinking about it I would think it takes some kind of delusion to keep a testimony of the one true church. Maybe 1% of people would do that
