Wish I could. Listened to his interview with Bill Reel and fully support the cause.
Looks like the church is at least noticing.
Too little too late.

Feeling sad for your loss.
There is never a good time to lose someone you love as much as your dad.
Deepest condolences.

Once I came to the sadly profound realization it’s all just a mirage, I decided I don’t NEED anything from any church. Life has become better. Now if only eve would partake.....

Re: What should you share with the Bishop?
Ok, so I still have members of my former ward approach me and call me BP and tell me how much they loved me as their bishop. :? That being said, I recently spoke to my own interview with my current BP in which I didn’t confide a thing and would recommend that approach to all. Set your own boundaries...

Re: Awkward GA meeting with NZ PM
Awkward indeed I would imagine.
I wonder if the NZ news have any interest in this? It would certainly be something those 113,000 members should be aware of. (Assuming she is a politician with credibility in the country, unlike our very own PM)

Re: Patrick Mason Talk
That was a long talk. Glad I can read faster then the time it would have taken to listen to the whole thing. As I read I thought wouldn’t that be a nice Mormonism. Getting rid of the lies and deception and being inclusive of all those the church shuns would help. Making the elders quorum lessons exc...

Re: Why I told my kids
What a lovely post.
It makes me smile to read of the many courageous decisions which ultimately came together in such a beautiful inclusive wedding.
I salute you.
P.S. Did you actually send this to some leader in the church?

Re: In which my attendance at SM is an answer to prayer
I’m trying to make sense of the whole experience. It makes me incredibly uncomfortable to be the object of a virtual stranger’s fervent prayers. Like I said, I was moved -- but my disbelief isn’t a result of not praying and reading scripture, but of a whole array of problems that I can no longer ov...

Which should lead us to the conclusion that this so called divine experience is all a manipulative process.

Re: "Do not record or transcribe..."
This really does seem over the top. I remember thinking it was the keeners who took notes so they could remember and put it into their daily routines, but sigh I have been wrong about so many things. So if no one remembers what was said or done, it will be easier to change things without anyone bein...

Re: My only job with kids
Someone told me once that the best thing we can do to help our kids grow up to be good people is just let them develop without too much interference. The idea that we all come with the "software" to be great and it is just getting messed with that stunts our growth. Im no expert but after seeing our...

OK - time to rant. My BIL and SIL came to town this week. Long story short - they came to town for a funeral and stayed with us for two nights. This evening, thanks to my BIL, I'm now out an extra $50, my kids are driving me crazy, wife and I are in a bad mood and my chances for a peaceful evening ...

Re: Return and report: church hunting edition...sorry, long
Interesting exploration. I noticed you stuck to the christian churches in your area. Are there any other religions to consider in your area or are you only considering christian churches? Are you leaning on a church for mostly social nurturing or is this a spiritual quest? Despite my seemingly cynic...

Re: Is coffee evil?
I know a TBM who has brewed this "choffee". Didn't know that was what it was called. Maybe if I'm super nice to her I could try some. I wonder if a TBM could appreciate a cup of coffee if you stirred in one of those packets of hot chocolate with marshmallows and neglected to tell them exactly what ...

Re: Oh my God
Oh my god is such a useful phrase. It can mean nearly anything from cries of ecstatic joy to disappointment or even contempt. I never dared say it a few years ago but now find it quite funny to use. “Oh, MY god” is the way I would describe my understanding of the whole god concept. It’s the one in M...

true confession: Went for a few drinks right after interview with the BP yesterday. Worse confession: Realize what a lightweight I am in that arena. One "old fashioned", one Monte Cristo, and one gin and tonic and I didn't dare drive home. Woke up with what I imagine is my first "sort of" hangover. ...

Re: Helping out the bishop
I realize this hasn't been that interesting a topic but in the hopes that it will be helpful to someone I'll continue with the saga. I finally girded up my loins and invited the Bishop and his wife for dinner last week. They graciously declined due to conflicts in their schedule. Apparently son's ba...
