Angeles and Plates

I heard someplace if you can make Angles and Gold Plates work everything else comes naturally. Makes sense that belief in one supernatural event opens your your brain to all sorts of other zany ideas. Its like being a conspiracy theorist, you see them everywhere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: No more “time only” temple weddings

I think RMN just likes tweaking things. I bet he sat as an apostle all those years thinking I could do a better job. In reality with all his little tweaks nothing has changed. Power is still at the top. Women are out in the cold. Guilt and shame are the tools of choice. Sent from my iPhone using Tap...

Like aliens they may exist, but until there is some real evidence it is hard to take seriously.

If the human mind can invent complex mathematics I am sure it can invent an NDE to cope with trauma.

Re: I Learned How to Judge as a Mormon

To judge is to be human. For me I would say I learned what to judge as a mormon, and it was all wrong. We are judgement machines and I don't think there is a way to stop it. So I've tried to change what I judge from swearing and modesty and caffeine and R-rated movies and church attendance and garm...

I Learned How to Judge as a Mormon

It started when I was young. The messages I got at church were how to judge others by their outward appearance and behavior. Things that were lifestyle choices morphed into deviant behavior. I learned these people were defective and needed fixing. Fast forward 60 years and it is a hard habit to brea...

These guys just make stuff up with nothing to back it up. They could say pigs have wings and many a TBM would nod in agreement.

It tells me the church has so lost the gay battle. I wonder when they will realize it.

Will they keep or remove the pentagram with the goat's head at the Salt Lake Temple?
I really liked that Dinosaur.

Re: Studying Antiquity

Ever play telephone as a kid. You tell one person something, they tell another and another, and so on. By the time you get to the last person the message is all messed up. Humans will always add and subtract from a story as they pass it along verbally. I doubt anything in the bible represents actual...

Is Christianity Dying?

It feels as though so much in the world is changing at an ever accelerating rate. Social norms, political views, and spirituality all are much different than my youth of 50 plus years ago. I am not debating if things are better or worse everyone has an opinion. My question relates to spirituality es...

Re: RFM and Peter Bleakley

This podcast reinforced my belief the church could be an agent of hope and help. Whether it is true or not it is in a position to make good things happen. I also blame the leaders. They have taken a once vibrant community and turned it into a dull by the numbers march into boredom. They lie and obfu...

Re: SLC Trib: "McKenna Denson, LDS Church agree to drop lawsuit"

The church just behaved like the huge corporation they are. Protect the corporation above the needs of the customer or employee. They have church in their title but that means nothing when image and money is involved. Not saying all corporations are bad. I have worked for good ones and in one case a...

Really the FBI? It is a stupid video just like a million others that people waste there time on. Dehlin did them a favor by bringing attention to it.

Re: Did you learn anything in the temple? Yes!

Next time someone says they learn something new every time they go to the temple, ask the exactly what they learned the last three times. Crickets I am sure will be the response. I think the notion that you learn all this grandiose stuff is just Mormon hype. Its just what you say. Like my mission wa...

I use to shoot archery in competition. One arrow out of six in the bullseye did not get me anything. To win they all had to hit the bullseye. Anything kess was failure.

Re: RFM Does President Nelson!

This is a good case of something that has been bugging me. They addressed it in the podcast. RMN and his posse get to claim all that divine communication and the members swoon. Sure it is at times good advice like my grandfather may have given, but nothing to fix the problem. No real solutions. Noth...

Re: Did you learn anything in the temple? Yes!

In 1978 i got a full temple experience. Throat slashing disemboweling and all. My favorite part was when Satan and the preacher dude showed up together as partners in crime. In the live session those playing the preacher really lived the part and would throw some real effort into it. Unlike those pl...
