Oh, he tried it. FOR SURE. Decided since he couldn't do it that nobody could have any fun with themselves. Bastard.

Re: Christmas Program?
Here’s my full report: I went back in once the music started. It was *horrendous*. Every piece was worse than the last. Very shaky pianists throughout. One guy sang a solo and wasn’t particularly good, but his heart was in it and his effort was sincere, so it was a relative highlight. The rest was t...

I’m sorry your service was bad and the attitude it led to from your husband was worse, Anon. That sucks. Internet hugs and positive vibrations your way, friend. I’m attending for the first and only time in 2017 today! They are in the midst of THREE baby blessings right now. The first one was really ...

Re: How to have the talk
So, I've been playing the really long game and have never been completely honest with my husband about where I stand in my belief and the church. I can tell we're getting really close to having some kind of explosive conversation/confrontation. It may be the first we've ever had in fifteen years of...

Bishop change
Our young, black, relatively-progressive-for-a-Mormon bishop was released last week. Two weeks before this, he had reached out to me for the first time in about a year, saying he wished he would see me at church again, even if just for sacrament meeting. I responded to him very directly that I would...

Such a great, powerful song. I've seen Wicked in LA, New York, and Jacksonville. London sounds sweet!

Dude, this sucks. I feel for you. Your positive and light-hearted attitude in the face of adversity is always inspiring to me, so to read the frustration in your post really stings. I wish you the best friend. PM if you ever want to connect via phone/text/social media.

Re: Mind If I Vent?
Making friends as an adult is hard. When you're a kid, you can be best friends because you like the same color, as a teenager you like the same music, at college you live in the same dorm/apartment and take the same class, in the church you serve in complementary callings and live in the same zip c...

Re: What about NewNameNoah?
I sure wish he had been around before I went through the temple. I don't honestly know if I would have watched it (the church does a great job of making you think it's in your best interest to not know what goes on in the temple until you go), but if I had, it would have saved me a lot of trouble, I...

As the corporation sole, I'd distribute the entire liquid capital of the church among the membership and ex-membership. Then I'd donate the rest of its assets to where they could do the most good.

Re: Guns at church?
His son and his family came to our house recently, and at the end of a nice evening the son decided to reveal he had been carrying a gun the whole time. WOW  WTF? Who does that? That is so crazy/creepy! Yeah, I know. And we were having such a good evening and had just agreed to go to their h...

Re: Guns at church?
We had a ward executive clerk who reportedly idolized Porter Rockwell and always carried a gun to church. It made me deeply uncomfortable. His son and his family came to our house recently, and at the end of a nice evening the son decided to reveal he had been carrying a gun the whole time. This led...

Re: What movie makes you cry?
Dude, ever since I turned 30, every movie makes me cry. Like, even movies or parts of movies that aren't really intended to be very touching, there's often something really hits me and I find myself tearing up. I've always been a big ol' softy, but it's ramped into high gear in my 30s.

Re: Declining convert baptisms
So I keep thinking about "even the very elect shall be deceived." From the TBM point of view, they could think of Exmos/NOMs/inactives/apostates as deceived, but that also implies that those groups are the very elect. Or maybe it refers to the leadership of the church, who are the elect and deceived...

Re: How Elder Ballard Responded When Called a False Prophet
Yeah, my first thought was that it was like "set a date" to get married, even if you're not dating anyone, and it would definitely happen. Thanks for the clarification.

Your post is very powerful. I don't have an answer to your question, but I wish you the best on your journey. I agree that Reddit might have more people with experience in this area than NOM. Good luck, friend.
