Re: We pray upstairs

I wish I could find some of the whiskey that brother Brigham distilled to compare it to our modern version. ;) For what it’s worth, I once saw a product that just might help you compare. Some time ago, I was researching the history of alcohol in Utah and found a website where a distillery in Park C...

I figure I way over paid for many years so if an appointment catches me I can say full TP with a clear conscience.

Bizarre in deed.

Re: We pray upstairs

It's funny how long ago Mormons assume that was. I have to wonder, how different were mild barley drinks - really? How different was the whiskey ol' Brigham was producing than a modern whiskey? I wish I could find some of the whiskey that brother Brigham distilled to compare it to our modern versio...

Some things spoken, although in the mother tongue are not understood.

I bet she just couldn't process what it means to stop attending church.

Nice to hear you can still go to social events sponsored by the church. The people are nice.

Re: I'm Leaving Soon

I must say, I will miss your perspective but completely understand and cheer you on in your decision to make the big step. Most days I feel a similar urge to just have a clean break. My DW isn't quite strong enough or perhaps our relationship is the thing that wouldn't weather the storm that surely ...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

To day, being Sunday I only drank water. DW is probably putting a mark in her gunbelt to celebrate. Just an update to let you know that Cannabis is now legal across the country north of the 49th parallel. As a card carrying medical user, I have been discovering the benefits of it's use to alleviate ...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

DW and I are in Italy for the next few weeks and have learned a few things. Bottled water and local wine are about the same cost. At least here in Puglia. Driving through miles and miles of grapevine filled land makes a man thirsty. Red, white, rose are all becoming part of my new quorum. Limoncello...

Re: "I don't need the church to protect me from its abusive god."

I like your analogy even though I see myself at times as parent using some of those tactics we all were taught to emulate. (this has been a regularly visited topic with all my heretic adult children....... the wounds can heal) In the end though when you realize the mormon god isn't, where does that ...

Re: Word on the street is

I am not surprised. I imagine it is largely due to Sam Young's ordeal. It's hard to see someone trying to do good and get crushed by the church for doing so. Still planning to allow the church to ferret me out for a court of love some day so I'll keep my name on for now. Living as a "common law" ex-...

As I read your post I couldn't help but chuckle. I see you in your suit of light, which looks damn good on you by the way ;) . The bull is coming straight for you and with a slight step to the right and a dramatic flourish of you cape it is sent on its way. The crowd here at NOM shouts OLE and you c...

Re: Senior Mission Pressure

I told DW I'd be happy to serve a mission with her. I could drive her around and visit with the inactive members as much as they would want me to.

Of course I told her morning coffee and the occasional beer would also be a part of my mission life.

It might be fun.

Re: Sam Young's Confidentiality Agreement

Bizarre is the first thing that comes to mind. It is so interesting that the NDA has become the ensign to the nations regarding courts of love. They can't proceed without this important document to ensure the shaming (which surely will ensue) is not recorded to allow objective review. I trust there ...

Re: Updates

I can almost guarantee the judge would not have been so lenient on a Catholic, Jehovah's Witness, or member of any other religious denomination who claimed to be receiving treatment through their church. It is highly likely that the Southeast Idaho judge is a Mormon who doesn't know how to treat Mo...

OK...... I'm intrigued.

Postum with whiskey? Might be ok, but for breakfast? Who says penguins aren't high flyers?

Recipe por favor.

Visitors welcome. The party should start on October 17, unless some glitch in our parliament delays things again...

Re: I told our oldest son

I am happy for you DT. Being real with our kids is vital to having deep relationships. I have come to realize that the "veil of sacredness" we live under as members is a huge hinderance to meaningful conversations with our grown children. Things that pique their interest which might seem indiscreet ...

Re: "Why don't you want to believe?"

I want to believe........ for love's sake I do. Life with DW would be back to bliss, all my "friends" would come crowding in to welcome me back to the fold and I would once more be in line to win the super deluxe suite in the CK after I die. If only wanting to believe could erase all the evidence to...
