Re: What is the tipping point?
He still holds to the concept that the church is a good thing for our children. I am trying to show him that there are other churches out there that would be even better for our children. Well, you never know. My TBM wife would sooner die than question anything that does or ever did come from "the ...

Re: Many Book of Mormon Geographies
The people who appear to most desperately want the book to be literally true are also the same people who have no problem discounting what it actually says about itself and what their prophets have said about it. I am boggled by their simultaneous adoration for and disrespect of the text. Precisely...

Re: BYU Prof: People who leave Church deficient in "character"
this kind of rhetoric is insulting Yes, and so much so! You are correct, and just as is referred to earlier in this thread, it is extremely insulting to non LDS Christians. My mother is an exMormon Christian. I've never met anyone more Christian, and in fact she frets greatly about the status of my...

Re: I'm going in to be interviewed. Advice?
All good replies here. There is no replacement for doing awkward, unconventional stuff in person. Its kind of fun. My Bishop recently had a get to know you session with us (we just moved to the Ward). It was kind of amusing to see his facial expression when I told him I had lost my faith in the chu...

NOWMormon, if you get to the point where you want to expand on this then I can tell you in advance that there are several, like me, that have many in their extended family that are technically members of record, but exmo in every other possible way. In my immediate family there are six of us and the...

Re: Lightning Survey: Before the 2014 Plural Marriage Essay, did you know that Joseph Smith practiced it HIMSELF?
I knew there were plural wives, but as far as I knew it was just so that women/families could be sealed to him and that was it - no hanky panky.
Edit: So far when I knew what I knew, I was the same as Unendowed below. I did find out before the essay, but from non LDS sources.

Re: Hopi burying weapons??
From the link: They tied their food supplies and seeds around their waists and over their shoulders and began their migration. Many times they would not take off their supplies to rest at night because they knew they must go on–they had a long journey ahead of them. Wonder why they didn't just ride ...

Re: Why reading the CES Letter should be important for TBM´s
Yes, Meilingkie. It should be important. It should be important for people that expend incredible amounts of time, talent, money, effort, and passion into any cause, organization, or even religion, to know exactly what that cause, organization, or religion is all about. It shoul d be of extreme impo...

Re: Michael Ash -- Bamboozled book
This effing makes me want to use exmormon reddit language. I am so sickened by not only the suggestion, but the allegation that we "critics" are wrong, unenlightened, lazy, etc. when we don't accept such absurdities as this little gem from dear Brother Ash's CES Letter defense: Let’s suppose, first ...

"Even though many of you saw Renfield catch the fly and chew on it, there is no proof that he swallowed it." -- The Apologetics of Brahm Stoker , Ash, M., Nosferatu Publishing, 2011 Hey, I resemble that remark! Re: The biggest fear the LDS church has is TRUTH
What is sad, is in order to protect against the "TRUTH",...they change the very meanings involved. Exactly. That's why I think the perfect analogy for TSCC is Bill, "it depends on what the definition of is is" Clinton. I am no longer a right winger, but I still consider Bill to be a complete scound...

I had a similar thought about advertising for FAIRMORMON.org. Just like with the essays, you could be completely open about because it is the opposite of "anti"...it's the good guys. Since the essays came along, that might be the way to go, but I still like the idea of a sign on the ward bulletin bo...

Re: I figured it out, why can't you?
Maybe she's saying that more for herself. Like she's tying to convince herself that your faith crisis really isn't that big. It's like a coping mechanism. She can't handle the fact that you really had a faith crisis so every time she has to confront that reality she tries to convince herself that y...
