Re: LDS Church and BSA part ways
The problem in the church with scouting has always been that the church never let the program function as intended. The church constantly tried to make it adapt to their own structure of what groups the young men fell into. Secondly we tried to make scouting mandatory. Mandatory leaders through chur...

Re: Revelation of convenience
When men take it upon themselves to speak for God they can say whatever they want. Human nature will allow you to find validation in whatever you utter. Joseph being no different found convenience is saying things to his benefit. He just like to add God said so on top of it. Think about it. If you c...

Re: Paid clergy
Paying someone to do something does not necessarily get you a better product. I think the real problem is they try to fit every speaker into a box by detailing what they are to take about. Re: Push for Polygamy?
I can think of a couple of older High Priests in my word that would go for it. They have been preaching it for years in class. But I think the vast majority of members think it is a bad deal, especially for women. I think is ver going to happen in the church

Re: Many Book of Mormon Geographies
I think Joseph originally set out to write a fictional book. It just morphed into a historical account. What ever worked a the time, but it forced everyone to retrofit geography to fit a fictional narrative.

http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac235/rockmthi/NOM/th.jpg When I a kid you could order these glasses for a buck. Excitedly I had plans for these like any 8 day old boy. When they arrived I found the appropriate subject and put them on. What the crap they did not work. I was scammed. Who would ha...

Re: Who is Grant Palmer talking about?
I would find it more amazing that the leaders actually believed it completely. I think Palmers story of how they obfuscated and deny is very plausible. It is just that when confronted with reality humans tend to have blind spots and their minds try to ignore reality. I think it is such with the apos...
