Re: The Pharisee Phenomenon--New RFM Podcast
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! There really is something about bringing all these examples and audio clips together under one heading, isn't there? Busily working on part 3, which is going to be the last episode; not doing a part 4! It will be around 80-minutes long, but I am cramming in the fin...

The Pharisee Phenomenon--New RFM Podcast
Just wanted to let you know the first two parts of a new RFM series went up yesterday. The subject is Phariseeism in modern Mormonism. https://mormondiscussionpodcast.org/2019/03/radio-free-mormon-059-the-pharisee-phenomenon-pt-1/ https://mormondiscussionpodcast.org/2019/03/radio-free-mormon-060-the...

The Corbridge Manuever--New RFM Podcast
RFM and Bill Reel posted a two-part analysis of the BYU-Utah devotional address given 1/22/19 by Elder Corbridge of the Quorum of the Seventy. https://mormondiscussionpodcast.org/2019/03/radio-free-mormon-057-the-corbridge-manuever-part-1/ https://mormondiscussionpodcast.org/2019/03/radio-free-mormo...

Re: Bill Reel v. Apologist Jim Bennett
My impression is that Bennett is doing what all apologists do, but in a different way. He is creating a church that is completely different from how the LDS church represents itself. He then says he believes this creation of his is true. The problem is that the church he believes is true has nothing...

Re: "Research is Not the Answer"
For some reason, I incorrectly titled this "Faith is Not the Answer."
The quote is, "Research is Not the Answer."
Corrected.

"Research is Not the Answer"
A new Radio Free Mormon podcast went up yesterday dealing with my personal response to Elder Oaks's comment to the young marrieds of Chicago. https://mormondiscussionpodcast.org/2019/02/radio-free-mormon-056-research-is-not-the-answer/ I hope you like it. I go into some more personal stuff about my ...

Re: Book of Abraham, Part 3 Podcast
And seriously, I am not being coy here. I don't know what Brian is thinking other than what he has explicitly stated. To my knowledge, Bill Reel doesn't have any inside scoop on this either. At any rate, the emergency warning audio did not cover anything we were talking about behind the scenes. Bill...

Re: Book of Abraham, Part 3 Podcast
I think Brian is keeping his cards close to his vest at this point. He seems to have felt duty bound to come out and disavow his apologetic position on the Book of Abraham from 2010 in response to quotes from his writings from that time being used in the recent Dan Vogel videos. Brian went even furt...

Bill Reel v. Apologist Jim Bennett
Okay, I think this is seriously a big deal. Mormon apologist Jim Bennett agreed to go on Bill Reel's podcast. They had six sit-down interviews, each of them around 2-hours long. They were each able to express their views in a collegial and respectful manner without interruption or derogation. They p...

Re: Book of Abraham, Part 3 Podcast
Sorry about the confusion regarding the emergency broadcast message. Bill added a lot of audio clips like this one after the recording was complete. Most are more self-explanatory than this one. I think it was meant to indicate we were going to be talking about something secretive and potentially ex...

His resume looks like a history of writing bad sacrament meeting talks. And is it normal to list your wife and children on your CV? New RFM Podcast on Temple Changes
Bill Reel and I just released today our discussion and dissection of the new changes to the temple endowment, putting them in context with some of the changes that have been made in the past, up to and including the oath of vengeance. While applauding the new changes, the way changes are made behind...

Re: "There is No Integrity Left in the Church"
I agree that I will not make use of any audio, video recording, or transmission of the entire meeting or the disciplinary council. I can see a possible weakness that it does not say "entire meeting or any portion thereof." Is that the loophole? Either way, if Bill did make a recording and if he rel...

Re: August, 1836
I think the least that can be said is that Joseph Smith did not leave treasure digging behind him after the church was organized in 1830. Nor did he leave behind his theology of the importance of seer stones, which over time became characterized as a Urim and Thummum. As late as 1843, Joseph Smith w...

Re: August, 1836
Something I noted while researching the podcast were the following lines from the revelation (111) that jumped off the page at me when I knew the historical background. August 6 Joseph Smith “I received the following: Revelation given in Salem, Massachusetts, August 6th, 1836. ‘1. I, the Lord your G...
