Broke Back Church

It occurs to me that what many members view as a wonderful life, is built upon the broken backs of others. To enjoy the sanitized version of the family you must reject those who can not conform. You must diminish others in one form or another to maintain your belief. To maintain your perfect mormon ...

A little craziness would he fun as opposed to the lethargic monotone voices we get to listen to now.

Re: An Old White Man Discusses Racism

In talking about those who continue in their racism, I assume Oaks is centering upon Trump Republicans , LDS apologists, and LDS fundamentalists. That's my wife you're talking about there, dear penguin. She's not racist, she's afraid of revolution and socialism, just like millions of other Republic...

Re: The Best Two Years?

Interesting. It seems if you went foreign and learned a language your experience seemed to be more positive. I lived in Utah and went to Arizona. I use think i could ride my bike home if I wanted. It was mostly like I never left home. So from a cultural standpoint I learned nothing. I remember the d...

I imagine a world where we dont talk about sexual preference anymore, because no one cares what you are. Dido race.

Re: Restored vs. Continuing Revelation

God cant foretell the future, so he needs to change things up when he realizes the current situation demands change. He is a little slow at times 30 to 40 years, but eventually he gets it.

Remake of The Stand

Loved the book and I am not a big King fan. The original miniseries was good. One of the few times the movie did not mess with the storyline of the book.

What bothers me is you are telling me the original is 36 years old. Cant be. That would make me old.

Re: Canonized Stupidity

That you can have two armies of a million men. Logistically it would be impossible, not difficult but impossible to feed so many men on the move. To make a million swords would take many years on a production scale not possible given the technology. And then where do a million people go to the bathr...

It is always hard to stick with the truth when it threatens the flow of money or power.

Re: Coronavirus and GAs

A devout Catholic friend of mine posted on Facebook that 2020 US deaths overall are lower than 2019 or 2018. His argument was prayers work. Even if it is just a little bit. As far as the leaders praying it away, i think the average TBM wants to believe in miracles but they realize they most likely w...

Re: What happened in General Confernce

Similar. One difference is that leaders noticed back when they announced a temple every five years that there was a surge in temple attendance just after the announcement. They decided to take advantage of this surge by announcing new temples to increase temple attendance. But like taking caffeine ...

Re: Shannon Montez Part 4

It just reflects how those in charge of an organization that gains some level of power will lie and mislead to protect their position and power. The mormon church is no different. You would hope they would have higher standards, but they do not.

Re: General Konference Predictions

I remember the days of hoping for some big revelation coming out at conference. It was the last days and all. Surely the prophet would have some vital proclamation to make. Now I predict he will say nothing of any real value to mankind other than confirming to live a christ like life. Which does not...

Re: What To Do About The Police

All the uproar over police misses the point i think. Police react to criminals. They generally do not roam the streets looking for to cause mayhem. Those who put themselves in the position to react negatively to police scream the loudest about the injustice. I have never had a issue with the police...

Prayer Why Bother

Sorry if you disagree but prayer is a big nothing. At least as far as getting a response or some kind of intervention. When i start getting stressed my brain starts looking for relief. My 50 years of Mormon training kicks in and prods me to pray for something anything. I have to remind myself it is ...
