Re: Sealing rules?

The conversation I was having came to an abrupt end when the ladies shut it down stating that God wouldn’t make them have to participate in eternal polygamy. Unfortunately this isn't true. If they are sealed to a man and then the wife dies and the man is sealed to another woman in this life, both w...

Re: Sealing rules?

It's a plural marriage issue. If I'm not mistaken, a woman can only be sealed to ONE man at a time, whether he is living or dead. She cannot be sealed to more than one man at a time, whether living or dead. Period. In order to be sealed to a different man other than her first sealing, whether he is ...

Re: Pride works both ways.

Yes. Many of us know someone who fancies themselves the "go to guy" in their ward for gospel/scripture/apologetics answers. It is a big part of their identity and they are very proud of the lofty position in which they imagine themselves. As a result, they are very derisive of alternative views, an...

Re: Church secret dealings?

Just wondering if anyone here had more insight regarding secret meetings leadership had in 1923 that used the SLC temple plot and various other church owned buildings as collateral to procure loans for businesses created by Heber J. Grant? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=a1rxA9562jA It was a loan for...

Re: Church secret dealings?

I think we're talking about a different set of meetings. These don't involve B.H. Roberts. They're more regarding a business deal made by Heber J. Grant that was unknown to general church membership.
I have listened to some of the Caldwell Montez episodes but not all. So perhaps I'm wrong?

Re: Nemo's letter

The problem is that the entire operation belongs to one man. Russel M. Nelson. Everything else is just an appendage to that company. He owns it. All of it. It is his church building, his university, his employees making the decisions. Legally, it doesn't matter what the scriptures say. It matters w...

Re: Ministering Interviews

I see church leadership as originally wanting to find out how the church in general is doing spiritually. But spiritual righteousness can't be measured even by "works" because no one on this planet can look into another person's heart to determine what is truly there. Not even the big Rusty Nelson, ...

Church's rainy day safety net

I was listening to some New Testament commentary today and the narrator happened to quote the following scripture. It hit like a ton of bricks when I related it to the vast amount of wealth that the church has accumulated and their sorry a$$ed excuse that they need it for a "rainy day". Matt: 6:19-2...

Re: Do LDS give their Soul to the Church, or to Jesus?

This is a little like that member I talked to awhile back who attempted to justify\defend the church having an extremely large amount of money. She tried to say, "It isn't the churches' money, it's the Lord's money..." I told them they were splitting an awfully fine hair there. Temple trigger...

Re: Adam Ondi Ahman

If Jesus is only coming to limited grows, then I would venture to say that isn't the 2nd coming of Jesus. That's what I get form reading the Bible. Yep. You're correct. When it says (paraphrasing): "If they say he's in the temple, don't believe it. If they say he's out in the desert don't go lookin...

Re: Adam Ondi Ahman

When I came home from my mission (1975) a female friend informed me in hushed tones during conversation that the furniture for the great temple to be built in Missouri had already been purchased and was sitting in a warehouse just waiting for construction to begin in the very near future. I wonder i...

Over at the Mormon D&D apologetic board, they are spinning the story that this is all the SEC's fault and the Church did nothing wrong. I suspect that is the story that will be fed to the faithful, that the satan-fueled SEC falsely accused the innocent Saints.

Saw John Dehlin and guest (lawyer) on this issue tonight. Very informative and insightful. The fine is nothing but according to the findings the church leadership had to admit guilt to achieve a settlement. They knowingly lied and broke the law intentionally as stated in the documents. Re: Why does Scripture become irrelavant?

One of the early church influencers, Marcion, reached the erroneous conclusion that God was done with the Jews and that the Old Testament writings should not be included as a part of the Christian Canon. The Marcionites are awesome. They believed that the Old Testament Yahweh was actually an evil, ...

Re: Why does Scripture become irrelavant?

I know, I know.... I'm the out-lier here but I love the Biblical scriptures. I've read the Old Testament at least 4 times and continue to study it frequently. The Old Testament aside from being a witness to Israel of the covenant from Jehovah, gives great meaning and understanding to the New Testame...
