Re: Mormons are able to gaslight themselves

I never thought about it as gaslighting, but the mental gymnastics I did to keep myself believing it all those years, that's pretty much what that is!

Re: Why Do I Still Feel the Spirit? (when I don't really believe)

I just added 2 items to my bucket list. 1. Hang out with Fluffy at a heavy metal concert.  2. Journey into nature with Rubin! :ugeek: Let me be clear Red; when I said I was shooting the Milky Way, that was with a camera and not a white substance one might place in their nasal cavity...

Re: Why Do I Still Feel the Spirit? (when I don't really believe)

The discovery of the "spiritual experience" outside of TSCC was a big one fore me on my path to post cult recovery. I found it in a big way out in the Uinta mountains alone one night, shooting the Milky Way over Butterfly Lake. I call it the Cosmo. I've since connected with it in many ways and I fee...

Re: The Church of Psilomethoxin

I'm still on the fence ATM on signing up, so I haven't looked at the application yet. The cost is $300/oz for a bag of their dried fungus that contains the magic molecules. This is just a financial decision for me right now, I have lots of other bills to catch up on first. Where the cost is about $1...

Re: The Church of Psilomethoxin

This is a very interesting find Hagoth. So far I like what you shared about this church's premise and their setup. It's good to see more orgs like this that are not so much about preaching prescribed ways of spiritual healing but more about getting to results and safe ways to have a life changing ex...

Re: Consciousness

Wouldn't be interesting if their $$ motivation is actually an illusion created by higher manipulative forces, "at the bidding of vast, formless things that shift the scenery to and fro" ? (Edgar Allen Poe) [/quote] Exactly what I was thinking! The ultimate joke on the biggest egos: they were manipu...

Re: Consciousness

Oofah, some cool rabbit hole content in this thread! After my experience in the great cult and other institutions, I feel I've made good progress in disconnecting from my ego, traditional sapient thinking and the philosophies of men. Like Haggoth, I mill lots of different possibilities around in var...

Re: Fusion, salvation through science

Fusion has a long way to go, but this is an exciting advancement. The amount of energy they used to fire up all those lasers is way more than the single tiny explosion they made, in spite of what the click-bait headlines like to imply. Resolving all the remaining issues and scaling this up to effici...

Re: Is there a single unique truth claim of Mormonism that holds up?

"The natural man is an enemy to God." This one was likely parroted, as were most of the other dogmas and ideas that JS wove into his complex tapestry of BS. This is the quote came to mind when I read the title of this thread. IMO the invention of God by men is one of the single most harmful ideas ru...

Re: Impermanent Ward Relationships are Still Real

...condescenvy... I have never heard this term before and I love it, it's perfect. I have to give credit to FiveFingerMnemonic for that one. He's not on here much these days. I think it is a perfect word to describe what we NOMies and Xmos experience sometimes with TBMs; when they are condescending...

Re: Impermanent Ward Relationships are Still Real

It can be a shock that none of these relationships survive when going thru a faith transition. There are a few exceptions, but I'd guess very few. DW and I still maintain some connection to a few TBM friends we made in our travels around this stake, having lived in 4 different wards over the years ...

Re: Malcom X Quote

It seems the upper crust of societies keep coming up with more creative and subtle ways to keep crushing people, mostly mentally in these latter days. Like all other chances for life to evolve then become instinct on this planet, ours will play out as just one more failure or success, depending on h...

Fetching great stuff here Heretic HC! You might bring up the "Faith Crisis Report" research TSCC funded back in 2011, put some hard church sourced data against their angsty assumptions. https://faenrandir.github.io/a_careful_examination/documents/faith_crisis_study/Faith_Crisis_R28e.pdf Keep up the ...

Re: Church supports marriage equality

To me it really feels like TSCC is talking out both sides of it's mouth...again! They want the mainstream popularity and acceptance in the media while still holding on to their bigotry practices. I'm guessing their surveys to members have also helped put the pressure on doing this. How can they supp...

Friend of the Family

Anyone else watch this series yet? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsOjzWsO5ls I'm not going to give anything away, but I will say that as I watched this series it made me think a lot about Joe Smith and the methods he used to abuse young girls. There is a cruel irony here for these mormon families ...

Re: You're only happy because Satan won

...there's no golden palace in an afterlife... I's settle for golden arches. Ha! I admit, I made a stop at McDs last night. We'd been working all day and had no energy left to prep a meal for just the two of us, so gut plugs it was. I don't think I want to see Ronald and friends in the afterlife.
