Unmitigated Kool-aid drinkers....moksha wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 5:46 pmOver at the Mormon D&D apologetic board, they are spinning the story that this is all the SEC's fault and the Church did nothing wrong. I suspect that is the story that will be fed to the faithful, that the satan-fueled SEC falsely accused the innocent Saints.

Re: Church paying $5 Million SEC fine
Saw John Dehlin and guest (lawyer) on this issue tonight. Very informative and insightful. The fine is nothing but according to the findings the church leadership had to admit guilt to achieve a settlement. They knowingly lied and broke the law intentionally as stated in the documents. All members ...

Re: Why does Scripture become irrelavant?
One of the early church influencers, Marcion, reached the erroneous conclusion that God was done with the Jews and that the Old Testament writings should not be included as a part of the Christian Canon. The Marcionites are awesome. They believed that the Old Testament Yahweh was actually an evil, ...

Re: Why does Scripture become irrelavant?
I know, I know.... I'm the out-lier here but I love the Biblical scriptures. I've read the Old Testament at least 4 times and continue to study it frequently. The Old Testament aside from being a witness to Israel of the covenant from Jehovah, gives great meaning and understanding to the New Testame...

Re: Does living together make sense?
There is research to support both scenarios, but frankly the research I've seen that supports NOT living together first is a bit skewed because the population it examined was religious folks. Caveat: this is not my field just what I remember based on some research I've done. The research we studied...

And finally: 2123: Official church AI algorithms disavow any uncomfortable doctrine of the past, and declare that all COJCOLDS biological units are ordered to offer up 50% of their cryptocurrency at any of the 5,000 casino structures that were once erroneously misidentified as temples. Re: The Great Apostasy didn’t really happen according to new Maxwell Institute book.
Well yeah, but: Related to the original topic of this post... If the "Great Apostasy" never happened, what is there to 'restore'? The thing that's left to restore is the members' poor understanding of what has been taught specifically by leadership for the past hundred years. So even though it's be...

Re: Can there be an Alma?
I always thought the Corianton story was awfully accommodating. Just try going out and shagging a "bad girl" while on your mission now and see if you get a tough reprimand and then get sent back into the mission field..... I asked my mission president about Corianton and he just said, "Well, Alma wa...

Re: Sacrament Meetings & My Ramblings
I once read an article by Daniel Peterson the apologist. He was going on about how unfair all the criticism of the church was and then he said, "WE didn't start this fight but we're going to finish it and protect ourselves", something to that effect. I thought what a disingenuous dope. You send out ...

Re: The Great Apostasy didn’t really happen according to new Maxwell Institute book.
“We're witnesses to a process of restoration,” said the prophet. “If you think the Church has been fully restored, you're just seeing the beginning. There is much more to come. … Wait till next year. And then the next year. Eat your vitamin pills. Get your rest. It's going to be exciting.” The Ongo...

Sooooo.... what about the two main churches mentioned in the BoM? One was the church of the Devil and the other the restored church. How does that work????

Re: Thoughts on priesthood blessings and feeling the spirit meaning the church is true
If we think in terms of Heavenly Father and the Savior watching over their children here on earth, we should ask ourselves, how many would be blessed or cared for if God said, "Oh I can't give you a blessing because you're not in the right church. I only give blessings to my children through properl...

Murdered Utah family
I'd be very interested to know if anyone here has or will have insights as to the killing of this LDS family by their father. What I have read so far indicates that the wife/mother had just recently filed for divorce. I know you Utah people are more tuned into the LDS grapevine. Any chance this whol...

Lusting for Mary
I'm quite certain the church has saved millions of young men from lusting over Mary. Thank heaven we don't have to deal with porn shoulders in the church publications. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/mormon-church-condemned-for-photoshopping-painting-of-virgin-mary-to-cover-her-bust-and-shoulders/...

Re: Hypocrisy
Even though the above article comes down on the "stay faithful" side of the argument, it also makes clear there is no place for condemnation or judging of the individual who takes a different path than that sought for by the church. If anything those who "judge" should be saying, "I don't blame you....

You have my deepest sympathies. I'm going through something similar with my elderly TBM in-laws that are living with us right now. You might consider sending this article from "LDS Living" to your relatives. It was written by Patrick Mason, who according to John Dehlin, has admitted that he t...
