Re: Interview memory...

What a crappy ward! I'm so proud of you for not taking that calling! Way to go! [quote=Anon70 post_id=14997 time=1494295139 user_id=113] For years I felt like there had to have been something wrong with me for them to treat me this way. Like I wasn't good enough. TBM en...

Re: Scott the NOWmormon served a two year mission, but now he has a new mission. Please help.

Hi Scott - I think you've received some good advice from AllieOop and Emower. I understand your desire to make COB accountable but I caution you to slow down and assess your approach carefully. I have a family member who stumbled upon some key issues in the early 2000s. He corresponded with a GA fo...

Interview memory...

The interview thread brought this memory back... My DH had gotten a job in a state several states away. I was staying put to have a baby and sell the house. I had a few other babies at home. We asked for no help but also no one offered any. We lived near family who were helpful. The more pregnant I ...

Wow. I can honestly say I haven't heard that kind of crazy at church. Almost wish I had.

Nice lists! At first I worried all the time people would notice. The only time I think about G's now is when I see other women in theirs and feel grateful I'm not.

Re: I'm Serving With A New Bishopric Now

Same thing happened to me as a stake clerk. I was in for a couple years with one administration, in for 7 more with the next one, then just as I thought I could make a graceful exit out of that calling and the church, they kept me in with the new 3rd administration! Nobody ever asked me if I was wi...

Re: Curious "Word of Wisdom" Question

When I was young there was such a strict interpretation of the WOW. Now I see Mormons drinking cold coffee all the time. Coffee ice cream. Coffee candy. Iced tea. But yea there do seem to be a lot of gaps.... Interesting. I know there are tons of mormons who always have drank coffee. But is this be...

Re: Curious "Word of Wisdom" Question

For the life of me, I can't figure out why iced tea is a violation of the WoW but all you can eat red meat at Golden Corral isn't. Once I saw the quote that it's not about the caffeine and thought about how we can have hot chocolate....I went to my DH and said, I don't understand. He said he didn't...

Re: What would make you change your mind?

I don't think I can ever go back to full belief. My parents might argue I never had true belief and that also could be true. But I used to at least try. I don't think I could even try again. So...I guess the answer is nothing......

I'm also interested in reading the full letter and part 2.

My dad was in bishoprics my entire youth. 3 or 4 times. He used to say how pointless it would be to escalate any issue you are having above your local leader because they'd just send you right back to your local leaders.

Re: We are relieving you of being a Visiting Teacher

I'm sorry this happened to you. But...part of me is wondering how I can use this to my advantage when I'm ready. I often fantasize about leaving. I have a timeframe. It usually involves a move. But maybe it won't need to. I'll just vote opposed, say I'm having doubts and can't have a calling. Honest...

Yes

I didn't know how young some of them were. Didn't know Emma didn't know about it. Was told most were widows aka not real marriages but where he supported them and many were sealed to him after his death etc ad nauseum.

I didn't know about polyandry. That was a shocker.

Re: Are you a HSP (highly sensitive person)?

I'm similar to those above. Not sure I'm HSP but I'm definitely ADD (self diagnosed) and I have a hard time putting things in perspective when I'm stressed. I get anxious and worried easily. It's helpful for me to step back, disengage, get some alone time, walk myself through some thought exercises ...

Re: I Don't Recall If I Posted This On The Old Site

My uncle was NOM but I didn't realize it until after my faith crisis. Unfortunately he had already passed away so I lost the chance to talk to him about it directly. He believed "we" the collective we..are god. Praying is quiet reflection/meditation and every time your prayer is answered it's by peo...
