Re: Film Review: Captain Marvel

Have added Alita to my watch list for when it gets released on DVD/Streaming.

I made it to Captain Marvel at the weekend. Good fun stuff, though not quite as good as Wonder Woman IMO.

Watched Monster Squad on Sunday afternoon. It was bad enough to enjoy with a younger teen.

Re: What was your first NOM thought?

I can't rightly remember the very first. But I remember shaking off the thought that Joseph Smith had written himself into the scriptures: JST Genesis 50: 33 And that seer will I bless, and they that seek to destroy him shall be confounded; for this promise I give unto you; for I will remember you f...

Black box thinking by Matthew Syed. Basically is about the ability of an industry to learn, i.e. aviation good at learning from mistakes, healthcare not so much.

Re: What does everyone listen to?

I don't listen to nearly enough music. I have a very respectable hifi. Yet I don't take enough time to sit down and use it! I see a few CSN fans here :) I like dance music for driving: chemical bros, deadmauf. For work Fleetwood mac and coldplay. For listening some soul/funk I'm lucky enough to have...

Re: Film Review: Captain Marvel

need to get round to seeing this. The last female superhero I saw in the silver screen was Wonderwoman - I was blown away at how fun that movie was. Though I would have liked to have heard the original wonder woman score in the closing soundtrack.

So excited.

MIL is TBM, but can be a bit naughty.

Discussing GoT nudity and sex with me, and DW

MIL: It's all tastefully done

RJ: No it's not

MIL: It's just in the background

RJ: Not it's not

Mil: Silence

RJ: (laughing at naughtiness of MIL)

Re: Australian article on worthiness interviews

DW and I were discussing this week of the absurdity of 'worthiness interviews'.

Even without personal sexualised questions, the very idea of an adult interviewing another adult or child to determine worthiness is nuts. It's just not psychologically healthy.

I agree with many others that it was a way to get certain folks to vow silence on the polygamy thing. And to make some people feel extra special. Yes, super dooper secret = super dooper special. People will pay lots (sacrifice much) to be in an exclusive club. And you can do publicly unacceptable t...

Re: Blew up with DW "No more Tithing!"

Would tithing on surplus be a compromise? I can understand why you would not want to give one red cent. My TBM/NOM (at the time) DW agreed that tithing in surplus would be a compromise after I showed her some quotations from LDS org and some writing on the subject.

Re: Incontestable II

It was a milestone day when I got an email from my DW one morning, asking me what the CES letter was all about. I sent her the link with a note to prepare herself for a whole rash of $hit she never knew about her life long religion. 15 minutes later: "Holy $hit WTF?!" She was done! Sounds like a wo...
