Visiting New Orleans

I just arrived in New Orleans for a work conference. We're staying right by the French quarter.

Bourbon Street is absolutely crazy

Re: 90# Pork Butt

For all of you wishing to watch the madness, I assure you that reality is much less entertaining than the imagination. Dad didn't make it here. Flights were fully booked. The meat smoking was pretty cool, and there was much rejoicing. Brother and I had some drinks, all the adults were exhausted and ...

Re: Pope and RMN to meet today

For those of us that did 24 months or 18 months of hard time in our late teens/early 20's, Who remembers a phrase similiar to 'we might just baptize the Pope!" ?

When RMN and the Pope don white jump suits and held to the Rome stake center, call me. Until then, don't bother me.

Re: Bruce R. McConkie Will Be In Rome - In Spirit

In my post about the ward rodeo (90# Pork Butt) one of the families that is a fixture in the ward will not be attending the rodeo this week. This is because the wife was fortunate enough by way of a tender mercy miracle to receive an invitation to the Rome temple dedication. All she had to do was bu...

90# Pork Butt

Nothing major, just a little story I thought is interesting. Sorry, turned out be a much longer post than anticipated. My friend, who is also the EQP, reached out to me yesterday to ask if I could cook/smoke some pork butt for pulled pork sammiches. Our ward has an annual Rodeo instead of a picnic, ...

Re: Need to vent, has nothing to do with Mormonism

And I'm updating my Will in the near future. Let me die. Harvest whatever organ(s) might help another. Save as much money as possible. So sorry for the Trauma your brother has gone through and the toll on everyone one involved. I will raise a glass to the FSM tonight that ye may be touched by His no...

Re: Mormon/LDS/ETCOJCOLDS website name changes now official

http://churchofjesuschrist.org http://thechurchofjesuschrist.org Apparently the Mormon (aka LDS) church isn't the church of Jesus Christ, just a church of Jesus Christ. And suddenly the Bickertonites praised the Lord for the unexpected massive increase of interest in their church and website. Truly...

Re: Mormon/LDS/ETCOJCOLDS website name changes now official

oh, this is so painful My employer went through a name rebranding a couple of years ago. We went from a 4 character domain WXYZ.com to an ABCDEFGHIJKL.com domain. It sucked. But this is ridiculous. ABC.org ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRS.org hey bro, what's your email address? Joseph.Smith@ChurchofJe.... Ah for...

Re: General Konference Predictions

Just remember, don't get your hopes up. My prediction - they'll update some things but not as much as us NOM / ExMo crowd would prefer. I don't have any individual predictions, but my TBM colleague mentioned 2 possibilities Allowing coffee/tea Removal of all Stake level callings with the exception o...

2 faced gentiles

We were at the park recently talking with a few other parents. in this group, all of our kids go to the same school and most are in the same class. Someone mentioned what they thought were some polygamist children that also attend the school. A couple mom's expressed curiosity as they didn't know ho...

Re: Stirring in Mount Doom

A few weeks ago there was a thread on reddit that the blacks and the priesthood essay was down, but it loaded right up for me. That section definitely has been glitchy for a few weeks, although I don't know if it's because they're revamping it or some other technical issue. If I didn't know any bet...

As usual, the comments are way more entertaining than the actual story.

One guys doesn't think BYU should comply with GRAMA laws but GRAMA should be re-written to comply with BYU.

Edit

It seems more links are working than I first experienced. Maybe my computer was having a nervous breakdown and just not cooperating, but on a return visit, many more of the links/topics appear to be up and running.

Stirring in Mount Doom

Something is stirring in Mount Doom. The eye of Sauron is busy looking at lots of things. https://www.lds.org/study/church-history?lang=eng It seems the website is undergoing significant updates. If you click "Church History Topics" or "Gospel Topics Essays" several of the topics/links in the left c...

Fourth, Gaslighting and other familiar apologetic Same Ol' Sh*t. "You expect Joseph's inspired translation to just come to him magically out of thing air? Are you some kind or idiot? Of course he borrowed from Adam Clarke. That's exactly what a really smart guy like me would expect (in retrospect)....

Re: The exmo selfie train!

I take back my statement. I don't enjoy scrolling through anymore. Yesterday got to be too much. How can whole families leave together and I cant even get my DH to have a conversation about my issues and concerns about our children being raised in such a toxic atmosphere? Rough weekend. It hurts to...

Re: Bill Reel v. Apologist Jim Bennett

I'm half way thru part 2. I don't know why I do this to myself. Bennett has more than once compared mormonism to scientology and stating at least we're not as crazy/dumb as those guys. Jim Bennett lives in a version of mormonism vastly different than the majority of active members. But, as with many...
