Re: How prevalent is this....?

A very good TBM friend of mine (and by good, I mean a TBM that can understand other people's POV) has been posting links to articles like this and condemning the wife with (no) purpose BS. It makes me happy. I'll be the first to stand up and say I grew up with a very negative view of minorities. It ...

Ugh. No offense, but vodka doesn't go with Pepsi. Spiced rum and a twist of lime, but not vodka! :D You seriously need to spend a weekend with me & DH at Roosevelt Lake. I'll teach you how to drink! Alright, time to share how much of a noob I am regarding drinks. I had pineapple flavored vodk...

Re: Friend's wife gives him the old heave-ho

I'm truly sorry for your friend to be blind-sided like that. It's not not cool at all. A friend of ours experienced something similar a few months ago. While he and his wife were spending the weekend at their cabin, she was having her son pack up their (her & her son's) belongings to move out. His s...

Re: Official Crisis Declaration

All joking aside, this is a soapbox item for me, given my ex-husbands addiction and subsequent overdose death due to painkillers. One of my cousins is a doctor that is heavily involved in helping people overcome addiction. I listened to a few of his radio shows that were online a few years ago and s...

Re: State of Utah Liquor Store

The State Wine Store that was at Van Winkle & 9th East when I lived in SLC was actually pretty nice, but probably only because it catered to the wine crowd. The liquor store further up in Holladay was pretty nice, too. But, it was so nice walking into Albertsons when I first moved to Arizona and see...

Re: Discovering Family History

My sister was telling me that one of my Mom's neighbors was giving my Mom her condolences on my Dad's passing and mentioned that she is related to my Dad. Apparently Mom got a little huffy and told her that she WAS NOT related! I'm thinking, holy crap, Mom, there are people on YOUR side of the famil...

Re: Costco selling garment look-alikes

I had something similiar when I was a kid. So much better than a regular slip. I may have to get some!

On a side note, I bought a pair of really nice looking pajamas. When I put them on, all I could think was that they looked like garments (with a cute pattern). Haven't worn them since.

Sleeping Dogs - Zakk Wylde Not what one expects from Zakk, video makes me laugh every time, but the words are awesome. https://youtu.be/3Pv7jAKIPa0 Thanks for this one. It has made it on my personal NOM playlist! :D Yay! I'm so glad you like it! (Yes,I have a weird need for validation on the music ...

Re: Discovering Family History

I finally saw a picture of GGrandpas first wife. Long story short, he married the second wife basically because first wife couldn't have kids. At least he took care of her the rest of her life, if that's any consolation (yes and no), she had her own house and my grandfather and his siblings called h...

Yeah, WTFluff, that does kinda make you go ewwwww. At least my great grandmother and her sister were in their 20s when they became second wives (different men). They are why I have to laugh whenever I hear the old "polygamy was to take care of all the widows from crossing the plains" nonsense. They ...

It can be interesting to explore family history.
It can help explain things more.
And open up more questions! :) I used my sister's log on for Family Search since I have no idea what my membership number is and spent a big chunk of the day digging into more history.

Discovering Family History

During the events after my fathers recent death, my Mom mentioned something that I'd never heard before. She said something about his step-grandmother. Huh? So, I went digging yesterday. I found that a few years after his grandmother died, his grandfather married the widow of his (grandfathers) brot...

Re: Mom's Memorial Service

Achilles, it sounds like a beautiful celebration of your Mom's life. One of my brothers passed on to me our Dad's fly rod. I ordered a new reel and line and plan on using it the next time we go to Lee's Ferry. I think he would like to see me catch a trout with it, especially since he never had much ...
