Re: If I could ask them one question . . . Come Follow Me, Lesson 29

I just enjoy the heck out of the fact that the strangites use chiasmus as evidence of the authenticity of the Voree plates and other Strang writings. That is my default example anytime someone uses hebraisms for BOM evidence.

Re: Haley Wilson Lemmon and the Adam Clarke Commentary

I'm curious if the main paper ever got published at the U of Utah as they indicated in the original teaser article. It did and there are some comments about the article now that it is published in a thread on the MD board @ http://www.mormondiscussions.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=52737 I need to listen...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

It's also important to note that the government blatantly lied at the beginning of the pandemic about how masks are ineffective and so don't hoard those N95's little people, they won't help. Now it has flipped a 180 on this point. How do you know a gov official is lying? When they open their mouths....

Re: Undie Apocalypse

I just did the final deed. I couldn't figure out what to do with all of the old worn-out Gs in my drawer, so I stuffed them in a bag and shoved them waaaay back behind everything else on a dust-collection shelf. I assume from there they will eventually find their way back to Kolob from there. As I ...

Re: Purpose of D&C

This is where the CoC guys jump in and brag about how they keep pumping new sections into their version of the D&C. I would speculate that the brethren have become risk averse to canonizing anything as that then becomes binding, whereas mere "policies" can change anytime they find themselves in stic...

Re: Polynesians with native american DNA article

I haven't been online much this week, but I haven't seen this posted by the usual DezNat types who would claim victory for the BoM. Are you seeing people pass this around as proof of the BoM? It reminds me of that (National Geographic?) article about finding human remains in North America but then ...

Re: I have passed the garment hurdle

My wife has adjusted in a healthy manner and I am really enjoying not wearing 2 shirts in the hot summer weather. I also like not having white poly-cotton hanging out from shorts and necklines signaling virtue and compliance to the world.

It's a nice lifestyle improvement.

Re: What aspect of Mo’ism do you still hold dearly?

I think a lot about the circumstances of my ancestors leaving Europe for America in the 19th century and realize I wouldn't exist if it never happened. And while growing up in a fundy religion wasn't my choice I have to respect the hardy if gullible ancestors that made it possible for me to enjoy th...

Re: What’s the future of anti-Mormonism look like?

Well I see this site has changed from people questioning to total hatred of the church and those who are still connected !!!! So I bid you all farewell and may you find peace in the future. Mackman Really Mack? Total hatred of the church and those still connected? Like my wife, and family? If we ca...

Re: What’s the future of anti-Mormonism look like?

Here's an idea for an anti-Mormon protest movement. A bunch of people just start wearing temple clothes in public. I'm not recommending it, I'm just saying that it is perfectly within your constitutional rights and it would cause quite a stir if you're into that kind of shrill statement making. The...

...as a convert I was completely blindsided by them during temple prep. But then my dad could remember his parents wearing ankle-length garments. That was when they used to kneel for the sacrament prayer and raise both hands over their heads when they prayed. What. What?? Is this sorta along the li...

Then Oaks will become the Prophet we all thought Elder Packer would have been had he lived long enough to ascend to the throne. Oaks will be the hardliner who pushes the progressives out. The next 10 years will be fun to watch from the outside but intolerable for those on the inside trying to make ...

Re: Missionary Shirt Change?

I wore a blue shirt and no tie to our first sacrament meeting back post covid-19. Feeling pretty comfortable about that after this announcement. Masks are the new ties. [emoji1787] How was the Sacrament handled? Did all handlers wear masks and gloves? Did they pass around open trays to everyone or ...

How social justice movements are like the LDS church

Both are willing to overlook the faults of their martyrs to use them for the greater cause. Both will lay the sins of the parents on the children (earlier generations sins being laid on the children, IE you should feel guilt your parents were gay or polygamist) Both effectively take advantage of pro...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

I don't think anyone knows enough about the situation to get on a dogmatic high horse and judge others unless they know for sure they are infected and purposely running around spreading it. Dunning Kruger is in full effect. If you think you know a little about infectious disease from articles and me...
