Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

Its fascinating to me how the lawsuits from churches and businesses are overriding the best scientific knowledge. America will kill itself off via rugged individualism and personal "rights". Meanwhile, other countries govts incentivise compliance and they are succeeding, at least, more than we are. ...

Re: Coffee question

I prefer a Folgers-like coffee. I like the most boring, non flavored coffee with some half and half, and a little sweetener. I've tried some of the "fancy" stuff and I don't like it. If I'm out and about (which is almost never), and stop at Starbucks, I get blonde roast. It's not so bitter. The les...

Re: Coffee question

I drink filtered dark roast coffee with a splash of almond milk, using freshly ground beans. Seems to be pretty consistent. One thing to consider is that unfiltered coffee has some health detriment compared to filtered. I do not filter mine because it tastes more bitter without the oils the filter ...

Thank you Alas, those are some great ideas. Now I just have to get the guts to speak with her about it.
Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Re: Are member's testimonies changing?!

Spouseman was in a conversation with an active TBM lady week and they volunteered the thought that, "the church is really a mess right now. Their aggressive stance against everything LGBT, women, and race is just spiraling into crazy."

Interestingly, BYUs Frank Fox the creator of American Heritage 100 gen ed class that is basically republican indoctrination, and who is a self proclaimed conservative republican is coming out with videos and posts on why Trump's actions are reminiscent of dictators and very problematic for a democra...

So, so many sacrament meetings where Christ was only mentioned in the prayers.

Spouseman and I used to tally Jesus references because they were rare.

Conceptualizing God

The more I think about Mormon God, the more douchey he seems. Rules are rules because he says so, so sex with children is fine, if he says so. Slavery also fine if it suits his purposes. Anyway. Picture a God(dess) who is the same yesterday, that, forever. What would they be? What would their prophe...

Re: How essential is a literal Adam and Eve story to Mormonism?

The word "Adam" just means "man." The story includes a talking snake. It's not really even a myth, it's a fable. It's impossible to imagine this fable as history. There is zero chance that there are historical figures involved in this obvious fable. Yup. Man beguiled woman with his “snake” and thus...

Re: New handbook changes

Looks like some new changes. I no longer have to ask my regional sales manager bishop down the street if it's cool if I get a vasectomy apparently, although it's still discouraged. Also if you're a young teen who has a kid out of wedlock you have the option to jump straight into Elders quorum or re...

Re: Sunstone Roll Call

And then came the "Joseph wasn't a polygamist" by Kenneth Card. I started watching that presentation and it was very painful. His argument seemed to be, "all of these scriptures show that plural marriage is not right and then these statements show that Joseph was not a fan. Therefore, Josep...

Raising a heathen child.

We were listening to Bert E at Sunstone last night on the literary origins of heaven and hell. 9yo: He's not supposed to say h.e.... Me: he means the place, he's not telling anyone to go there. 9yo: (listens to part of Adam and eve story): I dont get it. Me: so he's explaining what people used to th...

If you would like to read my real name, see my real face, and hear my real voice, come attend. This is not so...
