Re: new member - wanted to say hi!

Definitely agree... and I've seen a lot of stories on reddit, youtube videos, etc where the other spouse does open up at some point and leaves, but it's not usually quick and so that's why I keep holding on to that hope she might eventually be willing to go down this road with me. Maybe it'll end up...

Re: Struggling with MFR - trying to figure out how to make it work w/ kids and us

I should also add that I continually kick myself for being so flustered when I first brought it up. I just didnt know about these groups, saw all the info out there about the church that was never taught to me, and freaked out about the idea of missing my kid's wedding or time on a mission because o...

Re: Struggling with MFR - trying to figure out how to make it work w/ kids and us

Thanks for the advice from you all - it helps. Last time we talked was Saturday and I told her I would not bring up the church again until she was ready, and that until she told me she was wanting to talk I am going to keep it to myself. I am going to honor that because I think we said most of what ...

Re: Brushes with "the other side"?

I'm new to the group, but I wanted to add one that always stuck with me... So my grandfather was terminally ill, and my Aunt and Uncle lived near him (we were across the country so i visited a few times and my mom was going monthly to see him). Anyway... my Aunt and Uncle spent a lot of time with hi...

Re: Struggling with MFR - trying to figure out how to make it work w/ kids and us

My wife went into it though assuming the CES Letter was wrong, so when they saw FAIR's response immediately concluded CES was wrong. The funny thing is that the first time I read the CES Letter side-by-side with FAIR's response I was like "Yeah, my wife will never believe the CES letter... FAIR has ...

Re: new member - wanted to say hi!

I've read your threads and I feel for you... I keep hoping we end up getting a breakthrough, but I highly doubt it for me anytime soon. I mentioned to my wife once how the church has a support system that makes it so difficult to investigate the church let alone walk away. She took that to mean inti...

Re: I'm Tired

I'm tired too... it costs sleep, mental well being, daily stress from not being able to communicate like you could before learning about the church. It sucks... I hope everyone gets some relief and progress soon. And I say that knowing that many of you have it a lot more difficult than I do, so I ca...

Re: Struggling with MFR - trying to figure out how to make it work w/ kids and us

Thanks :) Yeah it sounds fairly similar. It's tough because she found one area where the CES Letter really stretches (when they show passages from BoM vs Late War, I think) and then immediately said the entire letter twists facts without context. And to be fair some quotes are definitely debatable f...

Re: Struggling with MFR - trying to figure out how to make it work w/ kids and us

I agree 100%... after sharing the CES Letter and knowing that she (admittedly) only skimmed it makes me know that sending her my own letter like that would not end much better. I guess for me it was just about putting my thoughts down for me - it helped me to organize things and then I was also cros...

The lone ex-mormon in the family recommended it to help with all of the feelings of finding out the info combined with not being able to communicate them with family. :)

Re: new member - wanted to say hi!

My shelf broke years ago and I stopped going a while after that. I tried so hard to just ignore polygamy, but at some point I just could not believe that any God would tell their prophet to go around and marry anyone you wanted without consequence. So that was the thing that always bothered me, and ...

Re: "If you read the BoM, your babies will cry less"

Yeah, and that's another thing. I have a hard time getting across that I don't hate the members of the church, but I sure do loathe the church as it was founded. I readily admit that I don't know what the motivations of the Q15 are these days... whether they know it's a lie and continue it or if the...

new member - wanted to say hi!

Hey everyone! I just joined the other day and have lurked for a week or so... Long story short - I stopped going to the church a while back and have since just kind of 'left it alone' so to speak as my wife has continued to go. Lately I've been freaking out about the idea of kids being raised in the...

Re: Struggling with MFR - trying to figure out how to make it work w/ kids and us

I started a word doc where I would just put my notes in there of things I have researched and what I thought of it. Maybe over the next few months I'll make something of a CES Letter with it that goes into areas the CES Letter doesn't (or Letter For My Wife, etc), but then I also realize my wife wil...

Re: "If you read the BoM, your babies will cry less"

I'm where you are now, basically - I had not heard 99% of what was in the CES letter, but because I have become so detached from the chuch over the years it was easy for me to go "HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE AND WHY DID NO ONE EVER TEACH US THIS?!?" My wife knows all of the issues I have and will agre...

Struggling with MFR - trying to figure out how to make it work w/ kids and us

I'll try to keep it as short as possible but I know it won't be easy. I left the church a while back after I couldn't get over polygamy and just really felt uncomfortable with some smaller things, but my wife remained and has become more devout over the years. We were able to survive that by e...
