Re: Corsair's Visit to Nauvoo with Believers
I have a question. Is it pretty common for the grandparent generation to plan vacations to churchy spots so they can get all of their wayward (inactive) children and grandchildren to come together for something spiritual? Example: "I just want to sit in the sacred grove together with the whole fami...

Re: Church Presense in Nevada
Yes the South Tahoe ward averages about 75 in the off seasons and 300+ during the summer. We try to go camping at the lake each summer but we've never been to sacrament meeting.
My wife and kids go to the beach once a week during the summer. Great area to live.

Re: Church Presense in Nevada
You have been gone a long time. They now have two wards in Dayton. Not really from any real growth, just people moving out of Carson to get better housing prices. We have had 4-5 families move out there in the last few years.

Re: Church Presense in Nevada
Small world isn't it. Depending on your age, and your family's activity, they probably would know my family. My parents have been active in the stake forever and seem to know everybody. Dayton is exploding and with the huge business complexes coming into the area it will only get bigger. That is one...

Re: Church Presense in Nevada
You will be fine in Reno. Mormons are a definite minority. Plus you would only be half hour from Carson City. Right now the housing market is crazy in Reno. Renting is nigh on impossible. If you don't mind a commute Carson, Gardnerville and Dayton are a bit better. Hit me up if you want any more inf...

Re: No posting on Sundays
Usually my family and I binge watch something together in the evening so I try to stay off social media. Lately that has been Longmire. This topic is very appropriate after the fourth Sunday lesson on the Sabbath. Our teacher, who is a bit on the slow side, thought it was a good idea to commit every...

Re: Favorite Book of Mormon Character
The BoM always makes me think of that wonderful 80's cartoon He-man. Moroni is a mild mannered prince but with his magic sword and man-at-arms Teancum he becomes real bada$$ who dresses like a Castro Street entertainer. The holy ghost is Orko. The only one missing is She-ra because she's a woman.

Smart people and Adam and Eve
I'm sitting in EQ, listening to the group of well educated (for the most part) men talking about the Fall of Adam as it was literally a real event. They speak of Adam being a real person along with the figures in the BoM. I am just stunned to watch the mental gymnastics without any cog dis. Bizarre.

We have all been told that everything in the BoM is true. Best start reading and repenting. Joseph Smith was the bestest ever.

Re: Priesthood Session Wrap-Up
My brother and I went tonight. Normally we go with my father and my son comes along. This year my son was working and my dad was out of town. We sat through the first batch of speakers and bailed at the intermission song. I have no idea what the rocket had to do with anything unless it was a veiled ...

Latest Mormon Leaks
I was reading through the latest on MormonLeaks, and thought this was interesting. On page 4 of the Layton P'hood training document, there is a Q&A session. The question is asked, "How can a bishop help counsel a couple whose husband is entering a realm of agnosticism?" The answer: Elder Perry: "Tha...

Re: Purple hair and LGBT should leave
This blog post is another reason I am glad my purple haired, LGBT daughter sent in her resignation. I don't want her to ever hear this kind of crap spewed from the cold heart of some frigid old hag who thinks that Jebus talks directly to her. Haters gonna hate, but that is not a reason to make a don...

Re: LDS Church and BSA part ways
This new policy won't make a difference in my ward. The young men's president has already said that they will be registering all the boys in Scouts. He is really pushing for them to get their eagles. My son just turned 16 and pretty much quit scouting when he turned 14. He is not interested though h...
