Re: Registered at Target and Amazon...
Milestones represent happiness that life is progressing "as it should." Walk when they are 9-12 months. Talk when they are 18 mo - 1 year. Go to school. on and on. When they dont hit those milestones just right it is kind of distressing. Mormonism throws extra ones in there. From the outside perspec...
Re: Crap
Hey Linked, We are all just strangers here, most of the time by someone else's device. I dont visit the board real often anymore, but when I saw your post with the subject line of "Crap" I thought "Crap." I'm real sorry for the situation you find yourself in. I feel the pain. It is ridiculous that b...

Re: Has your definition of right and wrong changed?
This is a hot topic for people , but I am still working through abortion. Church line is, "dont kill babies, no further analysis needed." I have had experiences now later in my life and after my apostasy that have taught me it is not a black and white issue like I always was taught. However I have n...

Re: The End of the World: August 2020
There's holes in it that Mormons admit to but cannot see because of cognitive dissonance. This is what drives me the most nuts, even years later in my apostasy. I can go months without giving the church any processing time, thanks to COVID (#givethanksbutnotreally). But when something occurs as sim...

Re: Unwritten Articles of Faith
This was a funny thread. I think its clear that basically anything, at any time, can be potentially an article of faith, but they can be pulled back at anytime and members will support it. Maybe it's time for an overhaul: The One Article of Faith: We believe in believing what we are told to believe...

Re: It’s Mock Trial Time! Joseph Smith v. Polygamy
Attorney D.H. Oaks: If it pleases the court, your honor, I would like to offer a plea of defense on behalf of Joseph Smith. Judge: You May proceed. Call your first witness. Oaks: I call an Angel to the stand. Oaks: Mr. Angel, can you please explain to the court what occurred that night in 18 hundre...

This was a funny thread. I think its clear that basically anything, at any time, can be potentially an article of faith, but they can be pulled back at anytime and members will support it. But they can also be reinstated at anytime. They can even be ephemeral articles and the members will ask how lo...

Re: Deseret News Defends the Crappy 2020 GC
I just though given what is going on, this was their big chance to do a little of that prophet seer stuff they are always claiming. But really nothing more than usual. Maybe even less than usual. Just in case you've never seen a deer in the headlights, now you have a pretty good idea. But that woul...

Re: LDS Inc. Recieved Government Assistance
You guys are right, hypocrisy is nothing new to the church, and it is totally par for the course, totally expected. What gets me is that the entire justification the church gave for the 100 billion fund, was a rainy day fund. Well now its a rainy day, small businesses are going under, some in part b...

Re: Martyrdom and divinity
As a then ten year old, I remember feeling disappointed that I was to attend the Lincoln Elementary. :o My wife worked at Lincoln for a little while. Good memories there. The temples would likely be very different as a result, and there are indicators that Joseph was planning to bring back animal s...

I am sort of embarrassed to have BYU on my transcript, but at least it is only for the undergraduate degree. That could only get through a committee in Provo. (I'm assuming it was BYU, I didn't actually click the link)

Re: If you fast without posting about it on facebook, are you even fasting?
No. Nothing seems to count in Mormonism at an institutional level unless there is some press that can come out of it, and nothing counts on an individual level without being able to brag about it on Facebook or at fast and testimony meeting.
Re: Disgust
Yup. All of us here get the disgust emotion strongly every time GC, or RMN comes across your feed, or gets mentioned in passing. It's pretty important to come here and let it out, and not at home. Make sure it doesn't bleed over to disgust for your loved ones. The church is t worth that kind of dest...

Re: No Book of Mormon, no gathering of Israel???
No gathering of Isreal is in sight, since the church leaders (and whoever wrote the DNA essay) can't even find those Lamanites. Well, they did have them clearly identified until ungodly science came along and messed that up. I never really thought about the fact that having to back off the Lamanite...

But dont actually look for signs, because that is irreverent and you may get struck dumb like Korihor.

Re: Still in anger stage
I understand your anger phases. I didn’t think that I would have gotten past my anger either. I have, by the grace of his noodley holiness. And I will acknowledge that the reason is largely because of concessions that my spouse and I have both made. If your family remains with the thought that you a...

The mormon worldview can be exhausting to track and ridiculous to analyze. Just imagine everything is out to get you, and you are better than everyone else, and you have the the Mormon worldview pretty pegged. I seem to be able to deal with the "better than everyone else" aspect, but I really hate ...

In in NorCal. My best pal is a law enforcement office way up in the leadership (trying to be careful). He just told me he heard that looting has begun in SF. It's such a big, populated city with one of the largest homeless populations (not blaming here, just stating a fact) and I have to imagine ki...
