I'm interested to know more about who my fellow NOMs are. I've tried setting up a poll using the forum, but it was too restrictive. So I've set up a short google survey which can be found here: Edit(Poll now closed) [url]https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeKtHHtoNqmgq4tt48B8W17JZgM7RiAF0VmULj...

Re: I don't like it either.

Sorry you need to go through that. My biggest hurdle when I was hanging round in those circles was conducting on Fast Sunday and kicking testimony meeting off by bearing my own - there's only so many times you can give an anaemic love jesus type, 30 second and out display; without it really starting...

Re: Patrick Mason Talk

As long as church revolves around worthiness interviews (tithing settlement, temple and youth interviews), Mr Mason can talk all he likes, his mormonism is not LDS mormonism by policy, doctrine or culture.

Re: Dreams Involving Mormonism/Religion

Have had a couple since being mentally out. Although, day to day I feel fine, the dreams (about the loss of faith) were traumatic enough to know that somewhere in my Psyche have been damaged.

Thanks for the perspective. Could see me attending another church at some point in the future, but too busy and cynical right now.

My kids told their cousins not to take Uncle Kishkumen's cup because it's just for grown-ups. They're learning! :D  mrs RJ has agreed in principle with me having beer in the house, but I'm still to chicken, lest I'm left in the lounge with a bottle of bud, while she retires to the bedroom cryi...

Had my first coffee in my own house today, when everyone was out (I was working from home earlier in the day). Had meant to undertake to cover up my sins, and hide the coffee tin. I washed the cup and teaspoon. I left the coffee tin in a prominent place on the kitchen side, so I would not forget to ...

Re: How much does the Prophet really matter?

not sure the head guy matters much, it's the structure and culture that matters. The system is now set up to perpetuate orthodoxy and conservatism. It's all old white men, with the social attitudes of old white men. The 12 and FP will recruit like minded individuals, so the echo chamber will go on a...

Re: In Which I'm laying awake at night wondering

three teens all raised LDS, all have stepped away. I did them more harm than good once they were teens. I aided their alienation by them being party to a weird religion in a European country. When they are under 12 church is great, when they are older it becomes a guilt trip if they do 'sin' or they...
