Re: Flat Earth Documentary
Finally watched this. Wow, just wow. I suppose the advice to consider what are our own personal flat earth theories should be considered. I am sure I have some. I suppose we are all just blind to them. I have loved ones who believe in Crystal's, energy readings, clairvoyance, energy healing, anti-va...

Maybe daniel and the lions den. Really?!!
Seriously though, Noah's arc was my first real faith crisis issue. BofA was my shelf breaker.

Re: on being outside
I am several years (I hope) away from any temple wedding but have resigned myself to the likelihood of being outside. I am sure it will be more difficult if it gets closer.
Good luck on your day of pain.

Re: mocha latte for Neal
Honestly not sure if this is coincidence or the spirit. I drink lattes all the time. For some strange reason I felt like a mocha latte yesterday. Your post years ago got me on a kick, but generally I am not a chocolate guy. That said, yesterday it was a mocha latte for me. Apropos i guess, serendipi...

This is so sad and painful. No advice. Just rage and sending good and healing vibes to you and your DD.

Re: The Corbridge Manuever--New RFM Podcast
One of my favorites from you C! Of course I have many RFM faves. My DW is now listening and she really has liked some of yours but has not finished yet and said you (er RFM) beat the dead horse too much on this one in spots. I disagree, but food for thought. I lived the maneuver stuff. You killed it...

Re: Living the Middleway again.
I'm with you. I love my wife more than I am annoyed with the LDS church. Virtually no one asks about my real beliefs at church, so why bother them about it. Good luck going forward, Mackman. Well said Corsair. That is a more concise way of saying what I have said many times. My relationships are my...

Re: Need to vent, has nothing to do with Mormonism
Sorry for this family situation. Great reminder for all of us. These complex situations can turn into long family fights. I had an aunt who was essentially a vegetable for 8 years until the last sibling finally relented to let her go. Sometimes it would be easier if people just died. Medical science...

Re: Divorce Advice?
Just an update. Things have settled down some, we've had more calm discussions and we're trying. This makes me happy. I wish you both peace through all of it. I have no advice about divorce since I have not had to deal with that. I have seen friends go through it and it was better for one or both o...

Re: Thoughts on Jana Riess podcast on Mormon Land
I don't know why I worry about this crap. My discussion with my husband went something like this: Me: I listened to that podcast. What did you think of it? Husband: Oh yeah. What did you think? Me: You recommended it, I'd like to hear your thoughts. Husband: I guess it's interesting Millennials are...

I have never seen this before. Very interesting. I recognize many of these from the Caractors document, but are they all really from him? Pretty crazy!

Re: do I want to catch the monkey?
Congrats and condolences. This is all hard stuff. But ray better when you are on the same page. Recently my DW had started to really hit the angry phase (after many years of my quiet FC before her). Last night she was ranting, big time. She said she wishes something would just piss her off so we can...

Re: 2 faced gentiles
What I took away is that regular people are somewhat two faced regarding Mormons. No one wants to say to their face that Mormons are nuts, but when they feel comfortable opening up, they will say that Mormons are nice people but batshit crazy and obnoxious. This was also my experience. Once friends...

Re: God in the Waves
I really like Mike and his podcasts. I listened to the book on audible. I enjoyed it and at times yearn for a similar testimony of God. It is wishful thinking. Mormons call that hope/faith. The only evidences we seem to really have of God seem to be confirmation bias at best. That said, I still live...

Re: Faith Crisis Contagion
Yeah, any willing explorer into the facts will soon acknowledge the reality. Sadly, many are not in a position to make real life changes. Some due to age. Others due to employment. Some due to family money, and others due to the hope of eternal family with lived ones lost too young.

I do the G bottoms most days but have converted 100% to some comfy fake G tops. I love the brand with the sailboat that is 95% cotton, 5% spandex. I even told DW I would screen the Mark's in if she wants. I told her it isnt fair since I can do this and nobody will notice, but she cant really switch ...

I understand this feeling of being unable to promise that. At the same time, this can cause some serious fear for her. It is hard to draw boundaries while insisting your are 100% committed but that is what you need to do here.
I agree that counseling should be in your future.

Took DW to the temple today
We are in Bangkok and hit up a few Buddhist temples (Emerald Buddha, Reclining Buddha). I found some commonalities with LDS temples, and certainly many differences. Both require payment for admission (LDS 10% of gross or net income, audited by the BP : Biddhist payment of flat rate tithing / admissi...
