Not what one expects from Zakk, video makes me laugh every time, but the words are awesome.

Re: Korihor and Mrs Misbehaved
I swear listening to this soundtrack in 2011 is what first started cracking my shelf, and I didn't even realize it at the time. Still haven't seen the show live, but thank heaven for the heroes who sneak in video cameras.

Re: Required alcohol
First tip: don't buy beer in a Utah grocery story because it's only 3%, hardly worth the calories. You know that you're getting the same % when you buy a mild barley drink on-tap at a restaurant in UT, right RubinHIGHlander? 8-) Fortunately, I'm in Phoenix. I can buy anything at any grocery store o...

Re: Discovering Family History
Heyyyyyy. Did you go to the Snow family reunion like 20-25ish years ago in St. George? I'm 32. Were you a fellow kid hanging out? Maybe we met way back when.Linked wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2017 2:09 pmYep. Re: Discovering Family History
My G-G-G-grandfather was an early polygamist with 16 wives. I used to take pretend/not-pretend pride in being from his first wife's line. I am now ashamed I had those feelings. Looking at his wives, quite a few were actually pretty old (post-menopausal) when he married them, so I wonder if there wa...

Re: Mormon Cred - Polygamist Style
I'm a g-g-g-grandson of Erastus Snow and his sixth (depending on which account) wife. There are a couple other polygamists in my tree. Their stories make me really sad. What I'm most interested in is this guy: https://www.ancestry.com/genealogy/records/john-robert-green_41371558 This is also my g-g-...

Pfffft. Don't give them the satisfaction. You may think you are making a statement, but in a way you are legitimizing their authority - "here is your recommend back you authority figure you". The very fact you are going into a leader's office to hand him back a Recommend to some extent is recognizi...

Re: Turning in TR
I've done this (giving back a TR) before. In all honesty, it felt GREAT to say (to the SP1C)-- I don't want this. This is basically the reason I'm thinking of doing it. I can see this point of view, but to me, giving it back to them gives them power. If you don't want it, throw it in the garbage. T...

Ooh, I've got some fun ones to add today. Re: Regular rant about my mom
I feel you. My mom sent me the really bad "debunking" of the CES letter (the one that doesn't name the actual document or Jeremy) that's been going around this week with advice to "consider my sources!" It's causing me to retrench and not want to visit for Christmas. Moms like this think they're doi...

I focused on shared values. What we both clearly believed, and why I didn't think the church represented those values for me anymore. Good luck.

Re: COMPLETE set of LIVING SCRIPTURES
With books and most church-produced DVDs, it's not worth the time of trying to sell on the secondary market. But the cost of these makes them perfect for eBay. Clear some space; make some cash. Hell, these might be rare enough that Decluttr would pay well. Check it out.

When apologies are for yourself
I had a dear teacher/mentor/friend die prematurely about 10 years ago. I never met her husband, but I found his information based on the obituary/internet and sent him a letter. Page one talked about my relationship with the teacher, how helpful she was to me at a critical time in my life, and how I...

Re: Missionary visit
(Quick aside here: I learned last night that the recent big annual EQ family activity with picnic, pool, guns/a shooting range had only four elders show up, and I understand that most didn't bring their families. Hahahahahahahahaha. I hope this trend continues.) My wife (as we both have many times ...

Missionary visit
These are always kind of fun to return and report. The missionaries came over last night. It was fine. We ate some food and chatted a bit. Nothing particularly noteworthy. Then they sat down for the "spiritual message" and I took the opportunity to do the dishes. Unfortunately, I could still hear. I...

The current version of the New Belgium Folly 12-pack is *so good*. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0227/0581/products/New-Belgium-Folly-Variety-Pack-12PK-12OZ-BTL.png?v=1495673510 It has the classic Fat Tire, the crucial IPA (Voodoo Ranger), and two really good citrus beers in the Lime Citradelic ...
Re: Age poll
If it's not too late to edit, I'd split 18-30 into 18-24 and 25-30. There's a lot of difference between an 18 and a 30 year old.
