Re: Whistle Blower Files IRS Complaint
Chuck the Furch! A few days later and I'm still just as pissed. Same here. It is so frustrating that I can’t just say “F” it and leave the church. My family is so indoctrinated. Its not right that the church can hold my family and my finances hostage. Just fuming. I still remember the day when DH &...

Re: Whistle Blower Files IRS Complaint
There was a good interview on radio west about this topic today. Doug Fabrizio interviewed a tax law professor who essentially said this is somewhat unprecedented in law and the worst case for the church is Ensign Peak Advisors loses their tax exempt status. Church itself wouldn't. Hm - it’s as if ...

It will make the believer despise the members that speak up. It will further divide the non believers and the believers. Waiting for the new testimonies to show up on Fast Sundays proclaiming, "I believe the Corporation is true". I've already seen stuff online that amounts to, "I know that $100 bil...

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, YES PLEASE. Garments are the worst part of Mormonism and a constant reminder of the control they hold over you and those you love. And they are ugly as sin. How weird to know what each other’s underwear looks like. Where else could you take a chapel full of p...

Re: Whistle Blower Files IRS Complaint
I have been trying to come up with reasons why the church would build up such a huge reserve. As noted, it can't be used in the millenium. The run up to Armageddon would also certainly lead to the fund being useless. Even a severe economic downturn would decimate the reserve leaving it virtually us...

Re: Whistle Blower Files IRS Complaint
Try this one...the church has taken your tithing and invested it. The church now makes more profit off your tithing than actually paying tithing...essentially, there is no need to pay tithing any longer as your tithing seed has now blossomed and is covering the need to pay future tithing...ah the b...

Re: Houston we have a problem !
Well after much thought I have decided to go ahead and accept full membership again. It means nothing to me but as stated I love my wife more than I hate the church !!! I am comfortable lying to a church that sits on $100 billion dollars while others starve. I am thankful that my own personal belie...

God here. Doctor walks into the psychiatric ward and says, "Hi Bob! How are you doing today?" Bob says, "I'm NOT Bob! My name is Napoleon Bonaparte!" Doctor says, "Who told you, you were Napoleon Bonaparte?" Bob says, "God did!" A voice two beds down says, "I did NOT!" 8-) Did the voice 2 bed...

You're really making me interested in checking out runes. Carl Jung was a very interesting man. I learned about him in psychology classes, but they neglected to mention his mystical side. And I think his mystical side has a lot to offer. He really does! He is where we get the idea of introvert and ...

Anyone hear of something like this before? YES! Read this: https://www.discovermagazine.com/health/vital-signs-paralyzed-by-faith That is actually more common than apparent. The placebo/nocebo effect - the power of belief affects us all physiologically. It’s not the only influence, but a significan...

I’d also probably just forget the forced dogma. Maybe just drop off a note to say hi with a small gift, saying you’re their neighbor and wanted to wish them a Merry Christmas?
Then invite them to NOM - “every member a missionary”!

Re: Temple recommend/ who should judge others
No one on Earth can truly know what's in another person's heart or the strength of their character. That's why we are told not to put our trust in the arm of flesh. And you're absolutely right about having another human judging your worthiness. God is the only being who has the ability to see into ...

Re: Temple recommend/ who should judge others
Im having a real problem with church interviews for the temple and baptism. I dont feel like one man should judge anothers worthiness !!! I was looking for a scripture in the bible pertaining to this not finding any . I know about the one not judging others or you will be judged but what about no m...

I didn’t realize you’re in your avatar ‘till now. Nice! I would have loved to have horse riding lessons - to learn how to saddle a horse right etc. We had a neighbor who’d let us ride their horse anytime - but just bareback. And we’ve had horses - my dad loves them but had to give it up after getti...

I did read a few of the answers here on this post. I do have to hand it to you guys that manage sitting at church. Thank Heaven for you guys it's only 2 hours now. I just don't understand how you can deal with the guilt tripping on tithing and temple worthiness. Even if my wife started going back t...

For those who feel like they have to attend, how do you cope? NOM and related distractions help me cope. Now I have a calling which keeps me busy because the time is shorter now. Before... I’d try to go less often and when I did and wasn’t reading or posting on here, and when some topic would come ...
