Re: Crap
Just a quick update. DW seems to prefer staying together in spite of me grabbing a morning coffee. Things are largely back to how they were before, which I am happy with. Hopefully she is too. I do wonder if she is just biding her time while she works with a lawyer, but I guess I won't know until t...

Re: Examples in the BoM where you can show *how* Joseph Smith authored it
I have mentioned this before but I think it is a good example of Joseph winging it as he was dictating. These are what I call the "oops!" moments, when Joseph catches himself saying something wrong or stupid, and then tries to smooth it over. It also presents another big problem for tight translati...

Re: progress with spouse?
It can be very lonely at times, for both spouses. As Jung said: Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself, or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible. Just don't drink coffee... Hahahaaa...

Re: Sexism of exmormon men
Thank you for posting this link. She means: Just because people leave the church, it doesn't mean that they stop having thoughts or behaviors that are sexist or racist or prejudiced against other groups of people. Leaving the church doesn't mean that people automatically lose their biased thinking ...

Re: progress with spouse?
I've been out to my wife for almost 11 years now. What a rollercoaster ride it's been. Like others here, for the first year or two I was active enough in the Church that I think it helped feed her denial about my complete disbelief in the truth and authority claims of la Iglesia. She's moved beyond ...
Re: Crap
Linked, I'm sorry to hear you and your wife are dealing with this. Trying to have a marriage thrive when one is TBM and the other a former believer can be so difficult at times. Nelson likes to change things. Alcohol and tobacco... eh, okay. Coffee and tea... what are you kidding? It's high time the...

Haha! another unlikely story, but the one you offer is very entertaining. I must have seen this as a kid, because it makes me feel very nostalgic.Hagoth wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 8:45 pmStop the presses! I think I figured out both the door problem and the reason they needed bees:

Re: If I could ask them one question . . . Come Follow Me, Lesson 45
The best apologetics is to view these Book of Mormon stories in much the same way as Mother Goose stories. Plot holes and conundrums can be found in Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Little Red Riding Hood. Sure these stories are more appealing than those in the Book of Mormon, but they were put tog...

Re: Utah's Beloved Gospel is Fraud The Worst in the U.S.
Such an interesting article, especially that it's in DesNews. This part of your quote seems to be a tip of the hat to the Church's claims about how to know truth: Pugsley said Latter-day Saints are taught to trust their feelings, but while that might be a valid basis for religious decisions, ... I a...

They were in those barges/submarines for almost a year, without fresh water. Did the magic rocks also act as a water purification system, too? What about the sanitation problems? Urine and feces would be spilling all over everywhere when trying to shove it through the small hole. At a certain point...

Another excellent post. The challenge is how get those afflicted with "Mormon Myopia" to consider such problems with the BOM 'abridgement?' Good point! This is exactly why I have the conditional clause, " If I could ask them ... " I expect anything from my site to have a very low probability...
