Re: Film Review: Captain Marvel
What stood out to me is that her banter with Samuel Jackson just fell flat. Now that could be entirely the director's fault but when you are playing off Samuel L. Jackson in a Marvel movie and the banter is flat it doesn't leave a good impression. I may be weird, but for me some of the most enjoyab...

Re: Is NOM going the direction of some other online groups?
What does this mean, and who here has ever attacked white people? I'm not seeing what you're seeing here. Could you give an example of a time when white people were under attack here? "If you don't bow down at the LGBTQ"......What does this mean? Can you give an example of this happening? If a NOM ...

Re: Is NOM going the direction of some other online groups?
FLAK was interesting to say the least. My sister-in-law was on there and one of the more angry. I have never been that angry about the whole thing. I think I have been here for going on 14 years. Originally posted as Sonny Barnett on NOM1.0. As for the politics I just ignore it. It isn't worth getti...

Re: Are youth really leaving?
This is just from my observation of my kids and their peers. My oldest daughter is 20. Of the kids she was in YW/YM (my daughter quit at 16), about 50 - 60% are inactive. Our ward isn't loaded with youth so we are talking 4-5 kids leaving. Same with my son's peer group, but the percentage may be as ...

Re: New youth program being defined
This just screams "fail." Let's push the responsibility to the kids so the leaders don't have to plan a program. Just make it more like church, that will keep the kids happy and in the good ship Zion. I can see this appealing to a small percentage of kids with the rest just blowing it off.

Yeah, that guy. Kind of like that Alan Wyatt guy that is over Interpreter with no formal training (yet somehow ex-Mormons keep asking me why interpreter doesn't back my papers, as if it should matter), or that medical doctor, Greg Prince, with no formal training as a historian, respected so highly ...

Re: The Trickster God
Reading your description makes me even less likely to want to worship a god like this. If this being is our "father" he sure acts more like an absentee, deadbeat dad, who is always late with the child support, than a caring loving father. But this fits with the descriptions from scriptures, so I wil...

Once in a while I wish that they would ask me to speak so I could do this sort of thing. It won't happen and I probably wouldn't, but the thought is nice.

Elder Dyches has been around the Reno area forever. He made it to a few of our stake conferences in Carson in the past. I wondered what became of him.

My sister's stake had Stank Conference yesterday too. Elder Larkin was their Area Authority (maybe the same one you had). He spoke for 45 minutes, apparently he spoke for 1.5 hours during the leadership session.
Very Easterly.

There have ben two calls in my ward. One sister, one elder, and they are both the normal lengths. There were a couple of people in my area that put in their papers 6-8 weeks ago that are still waiting for their call. Others in the area put their papers in after the others and have received their ca...

If they build this, maybe they will let it be open to the public. I would love to go spend a few hours with the family on the next visit to Utah.

Re: Film Review: Captain Marvel
I saw it and thought it was alright. Captain Marvel is a character that is just not a good fit in the MCU. The comic book character has been killed off and rebooted a number of times. This one is not much better. I saw it simply to get ready for Endgame.
